Claims
- 1. A method of making pressure-sensitive adhesive polymer microparticulate comprising suspension polymerizing an aqueous mixture of a suspension stabilizer modifier having a metal cation, and comonomers comprising acrylic acid ester of a non-tertiary alcohol having 1 to 14 carbon atoms, a polar monomer, and a higher vinyl ester of the formula CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHOOCR where R is a straight or branched alkyl group having at least 2 carbon atoms.
- 2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the higher vinyl ester is vinyl pivalate.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the aqueous mixture further includes a multi-vinyl monomer selected from the group consisting of 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate, 1,4-butanediol diacrylate, divinyl benzene, and combinations thereof.
- 4. A pressure-sensitive adhesive polyacrylate polymer microparticulate comprising (a) a suspension stabilizer modifier having a metal cation and (b) a copolymer prepared from an acrylic acid ester of a non-tertiary alcohol having 1 to 14 carbon atoms, a polar monomer, and a higher vinyl ester of the formula CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHOOCR where R is a straight or branched alkyl group having at least 2 carbon atoms.
- 5. An aqueous dispersion of microparticulate of the product of claim 4.
- 6. The polymer product of claim 4 where the vinyl ester is vinyl pivalate.
- 7. Pressure-sensitive adhesive micro-beads comprising the polymer product of claim 4.
- 8. The polymer product of claim 4 in the form of micro-beads having a size of 1 to 1000 micrometers.
- 9. The pressure-sensitive adhesive of claim 4, wherein the copolymer is further prepared from a multi-vinyl monomer.
