Claims
- 1. A printing apparatus for communicating with a host device through an interface, said printing apparatus comprising:printing means for printing to a cut-sheet form according to one of print data and a print command received from a host device; detection means for detecting the presence of the cut-sheet form; transportation means for transporting the cut-sheet form; control means for positioning a leading edge of the cut-sheet form to a specific position based on a detection result from said detection means by driving the transportation means; and selection means for enabling or disabling operation of the control means according to a specific command received from the host device.
- 2. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:storage means for storing a value set by the selection means.
- 3. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:means for temporarily enabling operation regulated by the control means irrespective of the selection means setting if a detection result from the detection means indicates there is no paper after one of print data and the print command has been received from the host device when operation regulated by the control means has been disabled by the selection means.
- 4. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:a first insertion opening for inserting a cut-sheet form parallel to the direction in which a cut-sheet form is transported by the transportation means; and a second insertion opening for inserting a cut-sheet form in a direction substantially perpendicular to said transportation direction.
- 5. The printing apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising:a housing for housing at least the printing means where the housing has a mark proximal to the printing means on the second insertion opening side.
- 6. A printing apparatus for communicating with a host device through an interface, said printing apparatus comprising:a printing unit for printing to a cut-sheet form according to one of print data and a print command received from a host device; a detector for detecting the presence of the cut-sheet form; a transport mechanism for transporting the cut-sheet form; a control unit for positioning a leading edge of the cut-sheet form to a specific position based on a detection result from the detector by driving the transport mechanism; and a selector for enabling or disabling operation of the control unit according to a specific command received from the host device.
- 7. The printing apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising:memory for storing a value set by the selection means.
- 8. The printing apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising:means for temporarily enabling operation regulated by the control unit irrespective of the selector setting if a detection result from the detector indicates there is no paper after one of print data and the print command has been received from the host device when operation regulated by the control unit has been disabled by the selector.
- 9. The printing apparatus according to claim 6, further comprising:a first insertion opening for inserting a cut-sheet form parallel to the direction in which a cut-sheet form is transported by the transport mechanism; and a second insertion opening for inserting a cut-sheet form in a direction substantially perpendicular to the form transportation direction.
- 10. The printing apparatus according to claim 9, further comprising:a housing for housing at least the printing unit where the housing has a mark proximal to the printing unit on the second insertion opening side.
