Claims
- 1. A display, comprising:
- an information display assembly for displaying information;
- said information display assembly selected from the group consisting of a calendar, post card, decoding card, business card, advertising card, educational card, bookmark, computer game case, computer program case, computer disc case, compact disc case with an animation appearing insert behind a transparent portion of a cover, tape case for a video tape or an audio tape with an animation appearing insert behind a transparent portion of a cover, display box, packaging box, box with a stack of spring-biased removable cards, top-loading box with moveable panels on a track, rotating box, two side rotating display, insulated cup having an animation appearing insert positioned between an outer transparent shell and an inner container, spiral bound book with a ring binder, book with pages in C-shaped frames, mural, picture frame with connectors for holding multiple pictures, lid for a jar or bottle, game piece, jewelry, button ornament, broach, ring, bracelet, earring, shoe ornament, writing instrument, marker, highlighter, pencil, pen, multi-faced hanging display, premium, display for an award, diploma or certificate, self-standing plaque, shelf header slide-in display, bumper sticker, message carrier, credit card, telephone card, debit card, automatic teller machine card, bank card, identification card, swinging display, wag, place mat, traffic sign, safety sign, street sign, highway sign, road sign, information sign, compact disc, laser disc, recordable disc, monitor, television screen, computer screen, flat screen panel display, light emitting diode screen, liquid crystal screen active matrix screen, passive matrix screen, dual scan screen, display with multiple rotating panels, video cassette case, audio cassette case, ornament, christmas tree ornament, decorative plate, paper weight, clothing, shirt, vehicle display sign, vehicle decal, book, sculpture, framed picture, picture stand, clock, watch, stamp, button, decorative fashion pin, window sticker, rotating display, scrolling display, game, decorative plate, award plaque, bookend, magazine, comic book, paper back book, hard back book, cover, page, envelope, pamphlet, brochure, card, greeting card, trading card, baseball card, basketball card, football card, soccer card, hockey card, sports card, card depicting at least one country, or rock singer or musician, compact disc cover, laser disc cover, and a bag;
- said information display assembly having first and second superimposed striped images and a transparent viewing member covering said images;
- said transparent viewing member providing a front web comprising a a substantially transparent viewable portion providing a set of transparent windows for viewing only said first superimposed images from a first angular position and for viewing only said second superimposed images from a second angular position;
- said first superimposed image having viewable first opaque portions and obstructed first spacer portions, said viewable first opaque portions comprising an array of aliquot spaced first strips with first indicia thereon comprising some of said information, said first strips having a width less than said windows and being aligned in registration with said windows for viewing in said first angular position;
- said second superimposed image on said rearward web having viewable second opaque portions and obstructed second spacer portions, said viewable second opaque portions comprising an array of aliquot spaced second strips with second indicia thereon comprising some of said information, said second strips having a width less than said windows and being aligned in registration with said windows for viewing in said second angular position; and
- at least a portion said first opaque strips of said first superimposed image being positioned in at least a pan of said second spacer portions of said second superimposed image on said rearward web, and at least a part of said second opaque strips of said second superimposed image being positioned in said at least a part of said first spacer portions of said first superimposed image.
- 2. A display in accordance with claim 1 wherein said transparent viewing member comprises a grid having a grid-like pattern with a set of aliquot spaced opaque bars with substantially rectangular portions positioned between said windows for substantially blocking the view of said second superimposed image from said first angular position and for substantially blocking the view of said first superimposed image from said second angular position;
- said first spacer portions spanning a width less than said bars and being substantially obstructed and blocked from view by said bars in said first angular position; and
- said second spacer portions spanning a width less than said bars and being substantially obstructed and blocked from view by said bars in said second angular position.
- 3. A display in accordance with claim 1 wherein said transparent viewing member comprises magnifying means for enlarging the appearance of said images and for facilitating viewing of said images as the angle of view changes, said magnifying means selected from the group consisting of an array of substantially transparent rods, a plate lens, a lenticular lens, a lenticular lens plate, a cluster of anamorphic lenses, an ultraviolet cured resinous lens, a lens with an undercut providing an electronic-eye alignment groove, a lens with an undercut and a wedge guide, a light directing optical plate, and a textured lens surface with grooves.
- 4. A display in accordance with claim 1 wherein said magnifying means has a back surface and said images are printed on said back surface of said magnifying means.
- 5. A display in accordance with claim 4 wherein said magnifying means cooperates with said images to provide self-contained lenticular graphics.
- 6. A display in accordance with claim 1 including a rearward web with said images printed thereon.
- 7. A display in accordance with claim 1 wherein said insert for said insulated cups comprises a multi-segment lenticular lens with trapezoidal segments separated by triangular slits.
- 8. A process for producing a display, comprising the steps of:
- generating a first intermediate image with a central processing unit;
- displaying said first intermediate image on a display screen of said central processing unit;
- generating a second intermediate image with a central processing unit;
- displaying said second intermediate image on said display screen of said central processing unit;
- striping said intermediate images by screening, substantially removing, and deleting portions of said intermediate images to form striped additional images having an array of aliquot spaced obstructed spacer portions defining a set of spaces and an array of aliquot spaced stripes comprising opaque portions;
- superimposing, aligning, and moving said additional striped images in offset relationship upon said other striped images so that at least part of said opaque portions of said striped additional images are aligned in registration with and superimposed upon part of said spacer portions of said other striped images and at least part of said spacer portions of said striped additional images are aligned in registration with and superimposed upon part of said opaque portions of said other striped images;
- printing said superimposed images on a viewable surface of a display; and
- covering said images with a transparent viewing member so that only one of said images can be viewed from a first angle of observation and a different one of said images can be viewed from another angle of observation.
- 9. A process in accordance with claim 8 wherein said display is selected from the group consisting of: a video cassette case, audio cassette case, ornament, Christmas tree ornament, decorative plate, paper weight, clothing, shirt, vehicle display sign, vehicle decal, book, sculpture, framed picture, picture stand, clock, watch, stamp, button, decorative fashion pin, window sticker, rotating display, scrolling display, game, ornament, decorative plate, award plaque, bookend, container, cup, glass, bottle, mug, insulating multi-walled mug, package, box, carton, wrapper, lampshade, magazine, comic book, paper back book, hard back book, cover, page, envelope, pamphlet, brochure, business card, greeting card, trading card, baseball card, basketball card, football card, soccer card, hockey card, sports card, card depicting at least one country or rock singer or musician, compact disc cover, and laser disc cover.
- 10. A process in accordance with claim 8 wherein said display is selected from the group consisting of: a calendar, post card, decoding card, business card, advertising card, educational card, bookmark, computer game case, computer program case, computer disc case, compact disc case with an animation appearing insert behind a transparent portion of a cover, tape case for a video tape or an audio tape with an animation appearing insert behind a transparent portion of a cover, display box, packaging box, box with a stack of spring-biased removable cards, top-loading box with moveable panels on a track, rotating box, two sided rotating display, insulated cup having an animation appearing insert positioned between an outer transparent shell and an inner container, spiral bound book with a ring binder, book with pages in C-shaped frames, mural, picture frame with connectors for holding multiple pictures, lid for a jar or bottle, game piece, jewelry, button ornament, broach, ring, bracelet, earring, shoe ornament, writing instrument, marker, highlighter, pencil, pen, multi-faced hanging display, premium, display for an award, diploma or certificate, self-standing plaque, shelf header slide-in display, bumper sticker, message carrier, credit card, telephone card, debit card, automatic teller machine card, bank card, identification card, swinging display, wag, place mat, traffic sign, safety sign, street sign, highway sign, road sign, information sign, compact disc, laser disc, recordable disc, monitor, television screen, computer screen, flat screen panel display, light emitting diode screen, liquid crystal screen, active matrix screen, passive matrix screen, dual scan screen, display with multiple rotating panels, and a bag.
- 11. A process in accordance with claim 8 wherein said transparent viewing member comprises magnifying means for enlarging the appearance of said images and for facilitating viewing of said images as the angle of view changes, said magnifying means selected from the group consisting of an array of substantially transparent rods, a plate lens, a lenticular lens, a lenticular lens plate, a cluster of anamorphic lenses, an ultraviolet cured resinous lens, a lens with an undercut providing an electronic-eye alignment groove, and a textured lens surface with grooves.
- 12. A process in accordance with claim 11 wherein said images are printed on the back surface of said magnifying means.
- 13. A process in accordance with claim 11 wherein said transparent viewing member is formed by extrusion, embossing, or stamping.
- 14. A process in accordance with claim 13 wherein said images are printed on a back web before or after said transparent viewing member is formed.
- 15. A process in accordance with claim 14 wherein said transparent viewing member has grooves and is formed with an undercut, and the undercut is aligned with the images on the back web with an electronic eye.
- 16. A process in accordance with claim 8 wherein said transparent viewing member comprises a grid having a grid-like pattern with a set of aliquot spaced opaque bars with substantially rectangular portions positioned between said rectangular windows for substantially blocking the view of said second superimposed image from said first angular position and for substantially blocking the view of said first superimposed image from said second angular position;
- said first spacer portions spanning a width less than said bars and being substantially obstructed and blocked from view by said bars in said first angular position; and
- said second spacer portions spanning a width less than said bars and being substantially obstructed and blocked from view by said bars in said second angular position.
- 17. A process in accordance with claim 8 wherein said images are selected from the group consisting of two dimensional appearing images, three dimensional appearing images, animated appearing images, morphing appearing images, telescoping appearing images, moveable appearing images, and changing images.
- 18. A process in accordance with claim 8 wherein:
- said generating said first image includes optically scanning said first image with an optical reader and transmitting said scanned image to said screen; and
- said generating said second intermediate image includes electronically copying said first intermediate image, moving said copied image to a different location on said screen than said first intermediate image, and electronically altering and modifying at least part of the overall appearance and shape of said copied second intermediate image so that a substantial portion of said second intermediate image is substantially different than said first intermediate image.
- 19. A process for producing a display, comprising the steps of:
- capturing images from different viewpoints with camera equipment selected from the group consisting of single lens video cameras, photographic cameras, dual lens video cameras, multiple lens video cameras, and video cameras with external image splitting accessories;
- striping said images by substantially removing, and deleting portions of said images to form striped images having an array of aliquot spaced obstructed spacer portions defining a set of spaces and an array of aliquot spaced stripes comprising opaque portions;
- superimposing, aligning, and moving said striped images in offset relationship upon said other striped images so that at least part of said opaque portions of said striped images are aligned in registration with and superimposed upon part of said spacer portions of said other striped images and at least part of said spacer portions of said striped images are aligned in registration with and superimposed upon part of said opaque portions of said other striped images;
- displaying said superimposed images on a viewable surface of a display selected from the group consisting of a monitor, television screen, computer screen, flat screen panel display, light emitting diode screen, liquid crystal screen, active matrix screen, passive matrix screen, and dual scan screen; and
- covering at least a portion of the viewable surface of said display images with a transparent viewing member selected from the group consisting of a lenticular lens, a fresnel lenticular lens plate, a lens with a textured surface, a plate lens, an ultraviolet cured resinous lens, a lens with an undercut providing an electronic-eye alignment groove, a lens with an undercut and wedge guide, a light directing optical plate, a cluster of anamorphic lenses, transparent rods, or a grid, so that only some of said images can be viewed from a first angle of observation and only other of said images can be viewed from another angle of observation.
- 20. A process in accordance with claim 19 where:
- striping said images is accomplished by directing said captured images through an optical image splitter selected from the group consisting of a lenticular lens, a fresnel lenticular lens plate, a lens with a textured surface, a plate lens, an ultraviolet cured resinous lens, a lens with an undercut providing an electronic-eye alignment groove, a lens with an undercut and wedge guide, a light directing optical plate, a cluster of anamorphic lenses, and transparent rods;
- said superimposed images comprise interleaved combined three dimensional appearing images; and
- said images are scanned by an electron beam.

No. 07/815,420, filed Dec. 31, 1991 of Yoshi Sekiguchi for a Process and Display with Moveable Images, now U.S. Pat. No. 5,197,886; which is a divisional application of application Ser.
