Claims
- 1. A process cartridge mountable to an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a frame;
- an image bearing member;
- a toner carrying member for directing toner to said image bearing member;
- a magnet disposed within said toner carrying member; and
- a common positioning member, discrete from said frame, contacting each of said image bearing member and said magnet to mutually position said image bearing member and said magnet.
- 2. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said common positioning member comprises integrally moulded resin.
- 3. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said integrally moulded resin comprises anti-wear material of one of a polyacetal group and a polyethylene group.
- 4. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said toner carrying member comprises a sleeve.
- 5. A process cartridge according to claim 4, further comprising a flange fixed to said sleeve, wherein one end of said magnet is positioned by said common positioning member, and another end of said magnet is supported by said flange.
- 6. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein a bias contact for applying bias to said toner carrying member is attached to said common positioning member.
- 7. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein an earthing contact for earthing said image bearing member is attached to said common positioning member.
- 8. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said common positioning member comprises a supported portion to position said process cartridge within said image forming apparatus when said process cartridge is mounted within said image forming apparatus.
- 9. A process cartridge according to claim 1, further comprising cleaning means for removing toner from said image bearing member.
- 10. A process cartridge according to claim 1, further comprising charger means for charging said image bearing member.
- 11. A process cartridge according to claim 1, further comprising toner containing means for containing toner to be supplied to said toner carrying member.
- 12. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said image bearing member comprises a photosensitive drum, and wherein said common positioning member positions and supports said photosensitive drum while contacting with an inner surface of said photosensitive drum, and positions and supports said magnet while contacting with an outer surface of said magnet.
- 13. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said process cartridge comprises an integral unit which includes at least one of charger means, developing means, and cleaning means as a process means, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member as said image bearing member, said integral unit being removably mountable to said image forming apparatus.
- 14. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said process cartridge comprises an integral unit which includes at least two of charger means, developing means, and cleaning means as a process means, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member as said image bearing member, said integral unit being removably mountable to said image forming apparatus.
- 15. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said process cartridge comprises an integral unit including developing means and cleaning means as a process means, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member as said image bearing member, said integral unit being removably mountable to said image forming apparatus.
- 16. An image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium and adapted to mount a process cartridge, said image forming apparatus comprising:
- mounting means for mounting a process cartridge including a frame, an image bearing member, a toner carrying member for directing toner to said image bearing member, a magnet disposed within said toner carrying member, and a common positioning member discrete from said frame, said common positioning member contacting each of said image bearing member and said magnet to mutually position said image bearing member and said magnet; and
- feeding means for feeding a recording medium.
- 17. An image forming apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said image forming apparatus comprises an electrophotographic copying machine.
- 18. An image forming apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said image forming apparatus comprises a laser beam printer.
- 19. An image forming apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said image forming apparatus comprises a facsimile.
- 20. A process cartridge mountable to a main body of an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a frame;
- an image bearing member;
- a toner bearing member for transporting toner to said image bearing member;
- a magnet disposed within said toner bearing member; and
- an attachment member, contacting each of said image bearing member and said magnet to commonly support said image bearing member and said magnet, for attaching said image bearing member and said magnet to said frame, said attachment member being separably attached to said frame.
- 21. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said attachment member comprises integrally molded plastic.
- 22. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said plastic comprises an anti-wear material including at least one of polyacetal and polyethylene.
- 23. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said attachment member comprises a base member, a circular member protrudedly provided on said base member, a concave portion formed on said base member, a first electrically conductive member provided on said circular member, and a second electrically conductive member provided in said concave portion.
- 24. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said toner bearing member comprises a roller within which said magnet is provided.
- 25. A process cartridge according to claim 24, wherein one end of said magnet is supported by said attachment member, and another end of said magnet is supported by said roller.
- 26. A process cartridge according to claim 20, further comprising a bias contact for providing a developing bias to said toner bearing member, said bias contact being attached to said attachment member.
- 27. A process cartridge according to claim 20, further comprising an earthing contact for earthing said image bearing member, said earthing contact being attached to said attachment member.
- 28. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said attachment member comprises a supported portion for positioning said process cartridge relative to a main body of the image forming apparatus upon mounting said process cartridge to the main body of the image forming apparatus.
- 29. A process cartridge according to claim 20, further comprising cleaning means for removing toner from said image bearing member.
- 30. A process cartridge according to claim 20, further comprising charger means for charging said image bearing member.
- 31. A process cartridge according to claim 20, further comprising toner containing means for containing the toner to be supplied to said toner carrying member.
- 32. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said process cartridge comprises an integral unit which includes at least one of charger means, developing means, and cleaning means as a process means, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member as said image bearing member, said integral unit being removably mountable to said image forming apparatus.
- 33. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said process cartridge comprises an integral unit which includes at least two of charger means, developing means, and cleaning means as a process means, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member as said image bearing member, said integral unit being removably mountable to said image forming apparatus.
- 34. A process cartridge according to claim 20, wherein said process cartridge comprises an integral unit which includes developing means and cleaning means as a process means, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member as said image bearing member, said integral unit being removably mountable to said image forming apparatus.
- 35. An image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium and adapted to mount a process cartridge, said image forming apparatus comprising:
- a mounting device for mounting the process cartridge, which includes a frame, an image bearing member, a toner bearing member for transporting toner to said image bearing member, a magnet provided within said toner bearing member, and an attachment member, contacting each of said image bearing member and said magnet to commonly support said image bearing member and said magnet, for attaching said image bearing member and said magnet to said frame, said attachment member being separably attached to said frame.
- 36. An image forming apparatus according to claim 35, wherein said image forming apparatus comprises an electrophotographic copying machine.
- 37. An image forming apparatus according to claim 35, wherein said image forming apparatus comprises a laser beam printer.
- 38. An image forming apparatus according to claim 35, wherein said image forming apparatus comprises a facsimile.
- 39. An image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium, said image forming apparatus comprising:
- a frame;
- an image bearing member;
- latent image forming means for forming a latent image on said image bearing member;
- a toner bearing member for transporting toner to said image bearing member to develop the latent image formed on said image bearing member;
- a magnet provided within said toner bearing member; and
- an attachment member, contacting each of said image bearing member and said magnet to commonly support said image bearing member and said magnet, for attaching said image bearing member and said magnet to said frame, said attachment member being separably attached to said frame; and
- transport means for transporting the recording medium.
- 40. A method for attaching an image bearing member and a magnet to a frame of a process cartridge which is mountable to a main body of an image forming apparatus, said method comprising the steps of:
- providing an attachment member which is separate from the frame and has an integral construction;
- supporting one end of the image bearing member and one end of the magnet using the attachment member such that the attachment member contacts each of the one end of the image bearing member and the one end of the magnet; and
- attaching the attachment member to the frame.
- 41. A method according to claim 40, wherein the attachment member comprises integrally molded plastic.
- 42. A method according to claim 40, wherein the attachment member comprises a base member, a circular member protrudedly provided on the base member, a concave portion formed on the base member, a first electrically conductive member provided on the circular member, and a second electrically conductive member provided in the concave portion.
- 43. A method according to claim 40, wherein the toner bearing member comprises a roller within which the magnet is provided.
- 44. A method according to claim 40, further comprising the step of:
- attaching, to the attachment member, a bias contact for providing a developing bias to the toner bearing member.
- 45. A method according to claim 40, further comprising the step of:
- attaching, to said attachment member, an earthing contact for earthing the image bearing member.
- 46. A method according to claim 40, wherein the attachment member comprises a supported portion for positioning the process cartridge relative to a main body of the image forming apparatus upon mounting the process cartridge to the main body of the image forming apparatus.
- 47. A method for attaching an image bearing member and a magnet to a main body of an image forming apparatus, said method comprising the steps of:
- providing an attachment member which is separate from the frame and has an integral construction;
- supporting one end of the image bearing member and one end of the magnet using the attachment member such that the attachment member contacts each of the one end of the image bearing member and the one end of the magnet; and
- attaching the attachment member to the frame.
- 48. A method according to claim 47, wherein the image forming apparatus comprises an electrophotographic copying machine.
- 49. A method according to claim 47, wherein the image forming apparatus comprises a laser beam printer.
- 50. A method according to claim 47, wherein the image forming apparatus comprises a facsimile.
- 51. An attachment member, comprising:
- a base member;
- a circular member protrudedly provided on said base member and adapted to contact an image bearing member;
- a concave portion formed on said base member and adapted to contact a magnet;
- a first electrically conductive member provided on said circular member; and
- a second electrically conductive member provided on said concave portion, wherein said attachment member mutually positions the image bearing member and the magnet.
- 52. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein each of base member, said circular member, and said concave portion comprise integrally molded plastic.
- 53. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said circular member is adapted to fit an inner surface of a cylindrical portion of a photosensitive member.
- 54. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said concave portion is adapted to support a magnet.
- 55. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said second electrically conductive member comprises a metal plate for earthing a photosensitive drum.
- 56. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said second electrically conductive member comprises a metal plate for providing a developing bias to a toner bearing member.
- 57. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said base member comprises a protruding tongue-like member.
- 58. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said circular member is adapted to support a photosensitive drum by fitting an inner surface of the photosensitive drum.
- 59. An attachment member according to claim 51, wherein said concave portion is adapted to support a magnet by fitting an end of the magnet into said concave portion.
