Claims
- 1. A method of producing a highly conductive image comprising the steps of:
- (1) depositing an organic .pi.-electron donor compound in a halocarbon on a substrate, said organic donor compond has the empirical formula C.sub.6 H.sub.4 X.sub.4 R.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 R.sub.4 and the structural formula ##STR7## where X is selected from the group consisting of O, S, Se and Te and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 is hydrogen, a halogen or an organic substituent selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, CO.sub.2 Me, phenyl groups, and fused cyclics and substituted fused cyclics selected from the group consisting of cyclopentene, cyclohexene, benzene, furan, thiophene, dihydrofuran and dihydrothiophene
- (2) exposing said layer of organic .pi.-electron donor compound in said halocarbon to actinic radiation in a predetermined pattern, and
- (3) evaporating excess halocarbon solvent, thereby obtaining a highly conductive image.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 wherein said halocarbon is selected from the group consisting of CF.sub.4, CCl.sub.4, CBr.sub.4 and CI.sub.4.
- 3. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is present in the concentration of from about 10.sup.-5 to 1 molar in said halocarbon solvent.
- 4. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is tetrathiafulvalene.
- 5. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is tetraselenafulvalene.
- 6. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic compound is cis/trans-dimethyletrathiafulvalene.
- 7. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is cis/trans-diselenadithiafulvalene.
- 8. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is hexamethylenetetrathiafulvalene.
- 9. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is hexamethylenetetraselenafulvalene.
- 10. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is dimethyldiselenadithiafulvalene.
- 11. A method according to claim 1 wherein said organic .pi.-electron donor compound is tetramethyltetrathiafulvalene.
