Claims
- 1. A single use processing substrate, comprising;
a first cut-resistant layer having a first surface area and including a first absorbent ply and a thermoplastic material ply; a second layer having a second surface area and including a second absorbent ply and a thermoplastic material ply, wherein the first layer is secured to the second layer such that a portion of the second surface area is laterally disposed outside of the first surface area; and the thermoplastic material ply of the first layer including means for lowering the surface tension of a liquid.
- 2. The single use processing substrate of claim 1, wherein the means for lowering the surface tension of a liquid is a wetting agent.
- 3. The single use processing substrate of claim 2, wherein the wetting agent is Dow Corning® Q2-5211 Superwetting agent.
- 4. The single use processing substrate of claim 2, wherein the wetting agent is of a food grade.
- 5. The single use processing substrate of claim 1, wherein the means for lowering the surface tension of a liquid is a hydrophilic additive.
- 6. The single use processing substrate of claim 5, wherein the hydrophilic additive is Hydrophilic Concentrate VW351 from Polyvel, Inc.
- 7. The single use processing substrate of claim 5, wherein the hydrophilic additive is of a food grade.
- 8. The single use processing substrate of claim 1, wherein the means for lowering the surface tension of a liquid is an anti-fogging agent.
- 9. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the anti-fogging agent is ChemStat AF-1006 from Rutgers Organics.
- 10. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the anti-fogging agent is of a food grade.
- 11. A method of manufacturing a single use processing substrate, the method comprising the steps of:
providing a liquid absorbent sheet having first and second sides; providing a liquid impermeable sheet; attaching the liquid impermeable sheet to the first side of the liquid absorbent sheet; providing a cut resistant sheet; treating the cut resistant sheet so that the sheet has the ability to lower the surface tension of a liquid; and attaching the liquid impermeable sheet to the second side of the liquid absorbent sheet.
- 12. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of treating comprises spraying a wetting agent onto the cut resistant sheet.
- 13. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of treating comprises immersing the cut resistant sheet in a liquid bath containing a wetting agent.
- 14. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of treating comprises spraying a hydrophilic additive onto the cut resistant sheet.
- 15. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of treating comprises spraying an anti-fogging agent onto the cut resistant sheet.
- 16. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of treating comprises immersing the cut resistant sheet in a liquid bath containing an anti-fogging agent.
