- 15. The processing substrate of claim 12, wherein the thermoplastic material is a polyolefin.
- 16. The processing substrate of claim 12, wherein the thermoplastic material is a thermosetting material.
- 17. The processing substrate of claim 11, wherein the barrier layer comprises an absorbent ply disposed adjacent a polymeric material ply.
- 18. The processing substrate of claim 12, wherein the absorbent material layer with strands of thermoplastic material thereon has a smaller surface area that a surface area of the barrier layer.
- 19. A method of producing a processing substrate, the method comprising the steps of:
providing an absorbent material layer; moving the absorbent material layer; and depositing randomly spaced strands of material onto a side of the absorbent material layer to form a cut resistant and liquid pervious surface.
- 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the absorbent material layer is moved in a first direction and the strands are deposited by an extruder that is fixed relative to the first direction but moves with respect to a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.
