Claims
- 1. A single use processing substrate, comprising:
a cut-resistant layer including a thermoplastic material ply; a first absorbent layer selected from the group consisting of a hydrophilic material, an oleophilic material, or a composite material having hydrophilic and oleophilic properties, wherein the first absorbent layer is secured to the cut-resistant layer; and a barrier layer including a thermoplastic material ply, wherein the barrier layer is secured to the first absorbent layer.
- 2. The single use processing substrate of claim 1, wherein the cut-resistant layer includes apertures therein.
- 3. The single use processing substrate of claim 2, wherein the apertures are circular.
- 4. The single use processing substrate of claim 1, wherein the substrate further includes a second absorbent layer selected from the group consisting of a hydrophilic material, an oleophilic material, or a composite material having hydrophilic and oleophilic properties.
- 5. The single use processing substrate of claim 4, wherein the second absorbent layer is disposed between the first absorbent layer and the barrier layer.
- 6. The single use processing substrate of claim 5, wherein the second absorbent layer is secured to the first absorbent layer with adhesive.
- 7. The single use processing substrate of claim 6, wherein the second absorbent layer is secured to the barrier layer with adhesive.
- 8. A single use processing substrate, comprising;
a first cut-resistant layer having a first surface area and including a thermoplastic material ply, an oleophilic ply, and a hydrophilic ply; and a second layer having a second surface area and including an absorbent ply and a thermoplastic material ply.
- 9. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the first layer is secured to the second layer such that a portion of the second surface area is laterally disposed outside of the first surface area.
- 10. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the first layer includes apertures therein.
- 11. The single use processing substrate of claim 10, wherein the apertures are circular in shape.
- 12. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the thermoplastic material ply of the first layer is disposed above the oleophilic ply of the first layer.
- 13. The single use processing substrate of claim 12, wherein the oleophilic ply of the first layer is disposed above the hydrophilic ply of the first layer.
- 14. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the thermoplastic material ply of the first layer is disposed above the hydrophilic ply of the first layer.
- 15. The single use processing substrate of claim 14, wherein the hydrophilic ply of the first layer is disposed above the oleophilic ply of the first layer.
- 16. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the thermoplastic material ply of the second layer is disposed below the absorbent ply of the second layer.
- 17. The single use processing substrate of claim 8, wherein the absorbent ply of the second layer is hydrophilic.
- 18. A single use processing substrate, comprising;
a first cut-resistant layer having a first surface area and including a first absorbent ply and a thermoplastic material ply; and a second layer having a second surface area and including a second absorbent ply and a thermoplastic material ply, wherein the first layer is secured to the second layer such that a portion of the second surface area is laterally disposed outside of the first surface area; and the thermoplastic material ply of the first layer having been corona treated.
- 19. The single use processing substrate of claim 18, wherein the thermoplastic ply includes a plurality of apertures.
- 20. The single use processing substrate of claim 19, wherein the plurality of apertures are arranged in a regular pattern.
- 21. A method of producing a single use processing substrate, the method comprising the steps of:
providing a liquid absorbent sheet having first and second sides; providing a liquid impermeable sheet; attaching the liquid impermeable sheet to the first side of the liquid absorbent sheet; providing a cut resistant sheet; corona treating the cut resistant sheet; and attaching the liquid impermeable sheet to the second side of the liquid absorbent sheet.
- 22. The method of claim 21, wherein the cut resistant sheet further includes a plurality of apertures.
- 23. The method of claim 22, wherein the plurality of apertures are arranged in a regular pattern.
