Claims
- 1. A compound capable of a bridging reaction with sulfhydryl groups formed by the reduction of disulfide bonds of a protein, said compound having the formula: ##STR8## wherein A comprises a drug, dye or label portion which is unreactive with sulfhydryl groups; and X and Y comprise functional groups reactive with separate sulfhydryl groups formed by reduction of disulfide bonds of a protein molecule.
- 2. A compound as in claim 1 wherein X and Y are halogen or sulfhydryl groups.
- 3. A compound as in claim 1 wherein said protein is IgG or IgE.
- 4. A compound as in claim 1 which is capable of reaction with reduced disulfide bonds in the F.sub.c region of IgG.
- 5. A compound as in claim 1 wherein A comprises a drug.
- 6. A compound as in claim 5 wherein said drug is a cytotoxic drug.
- 7. A compound as in claim 6 wherein said drug comprises a radioactive compound.
- 8. A compound as in claim 1 wherein A comprises a dye.
- 9. A compound as in claim 1 wherein A comprises a label selected from the group consisting fluorophores, chromophores, and radioisotopes.
- 10. A compound according to claim 1 wherein A is represented by ##STR9## wherein B is selected from the group consisting of drug, dyes and labels;
- U is a group unreactive with sulfhydryl groups; and
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon chains and amide groups.
- 11. A compound as in claim 10 wherein U is nitrogen.
- 12. A compound as in claim 10 where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are chains of repeating (--CH.sub.2 --) units or (--CH.dbd.CH--) units.
- 13. A compound according to claim 1, said compound being crabescein having the formula: ##STR10##
- 14. A compound according to claim 1, said compound being procrabescein having the formula: ##STR11##
