Claims
- 1. A range detecting device for detecting the range of an object, comprising:
- (A) signal integration and storing type image sensing means including a plurality of sensing elements arranged to receive first and second detection images of said object and to provide an electrical image element signal for each image element of said first and second detection images;
- (B) circuit means for receiving the image element signals from said image sensing means and for detecting on the basis of said image element signals, the relative positional difference between M successive image elements of said first detection image and M successive image elements of said second detection image corresponding to said M successive elements of said first detection image so as to provide data on the range of the object;
- (C) driving means for driving said image sensing means, said drive means being operative to set said sensing means to a condition such that the electrical signals are discarded from said sensing means and to cause read-out of the electrical signals from said sensing means;
- (D) monitor means for monitoring the integration of signals by said image sensing means as said sensing means integrates the signals, said monitor means producing a characteristic indication when the integration of the signals by said sensing means reaches a predetermined threshold; and
- (E) sequence control means for controlling first, second, and third sequence modes of operation of the device, wherein said control means causes said drive means to effect the setting of said sensing means to the discard condition during the first mode, causes said monitor means to effect the monitoring of the integration of the signals by said sensing means during the second mode which is subsequent to the first mode, and causes, in response to the characteristic indication produced from said monitor means, said drive means to effect the read-out of the electrical signals from said sensing means during the third mode subsequent to the second mode, the read-out electrical signals being supplied to said circuit means.
- 2. The device according to claim 1, wherein said monitor means includes:
- a light measuring circuit of a signal integration type for measuring a light substantially equivalent to that impinging upon said image sensing means, said measuring circuit producing an electrical output corresponding to an integration of said light; and
- a threshold circuit for producing the characteristic indication when the output of said measuring circuit has reached a predetermined level;
- said sequence control means being arranged to operate said measuring circuit in the second sequence mode and responsive to the characteristic indication produced from said threshold circuit to control the shifting of the operation mode from the second sequence mode to the third sequence mode.
- 3. In a device comprising:
- (A) sensing means having first and second groups of a plurality of signal integration and storing type radiation sensitive elements, the elements in the first group being arranged to receive respective portions of a distribution of a first radiation emanated from an object and to provide a first electrical indication of the radiation distribution of the first radiation and the elements in the second group being arranged to receive respective portions of a distribution of a second radiation emanated from the object and to provide a second electrical indication of the radiation distribution of the second radiation;
- (B) circuit means for receiving said first and second electrical indications from said sensing means and for detecting, on the basis of said electrical indications, the relative positional difference between corresponding portions of the first and second radiation distribution,
- the improvement comprising:
- (C) drive means for driving said sensing means, said drive means being operative to set said sensing means to a condition such that the electrical indications are discarded from said sensing means and to cause read-out of the electrical indications from said sensing means;
- (D) monitor means for monitoring the integration of electrical signals by the elements in said sensing means as the elements in said sensing means integrate the signals, said monitor means producing a characteristic output when the integration of the signals by the elements in said sensing means reaches a predetermined threshold; and
- (E) sequence control means for controlling first, second, and third sequence modes of operation of the device, wherein said control means causes said drive means to effect the setting of said sensing means to the discard condition and causes said monitor means to be ineffective during the first mode, causes said monitor means to effect the monitoring of the integration of the signals by the elements in said sensing means during the second mode which is subsequent to the first mode, and causes, in response to the characteristic indication produced from said monitor means, said drive means to effect the read-out of the indications from said sensing means during the third mode subsequent to the second mode, the read-out indications being supplied to said circuit means.
- 4. The improvement according to claim 3, wherein said monitor means includes:
- a radiation measuring circuit of a signal integration type for measuring a radiation substantially equivalent to that impinging upon said sensing means, said measuring circuit producing an electrical output corresponding to an integration of said radiation; and
- a threshold circuit for producing the characteristic output when the output of said measuring circuit has reached a predetermined level;
- said sequence control means being arranged to operate said measuring circuit in the second sequence mode and responsive to the characteristic output of said threshold circuit to control the shifting of the operation mode from the second sequence mode to the third sequence mode.
- 5. In a focusing system, a focus detecting device comprising:
- (A) image sensing means for sensing a detection image of an object, onto which said focusing system is to be focused, said sensing means having a plurality of signal integration and storing type radiation sensitive elements arranged to receive respective portions of said detection image and to provide an electrical indication of the radiation distribution of the detection image;
- (B) circuit means for receiving the electrical indication from said sensing means and detecting, on the basis of said electrical indication, the imaging condition of the detection image on said sensing means to provide an electrical output indicative of the focusing condition of the focusing system onto the object;
- (C) first means operative to set said image sensing means to a condition such that the electrical indication is discarded from said sensing means and to cause read-out of the electrical indication from said sensing means;
- (D) second means operative to produce a characteristic output when the integration of signals by the elements in said image sensing means reach a predetermined threshold; and
- (E) control means for repetitively controlling first, second, and third sequence modes of operation of the device, wherein said control means causes said first means to effect the setting of said sensing means to the discard condition and disabling said second means during the first mode, causes said second means to operate so as to produce said characteristic output when the integration of the signals by the elements in said sensing means reaches the threshold during the second mode which is subsequent to the first mode, and causes, in response to the characteristic output produced by said second means, said first means to effect the read-out of the indication from said sensing means during the third mode subsequent to the second mode, the read-out indication being supplied to said circuit means.
- 6. The system according to claim 5, wherein said second means includes:
- a radiation measuring circuit of a signal integration type for measuring a radiation substantially equivalent to that impinging upon said image sensing means, said measuring circuit producing an electrical output corresponding to an integration of said radiation; and
- a threshold circuit for producing the characteristic output when the output of said measuring circuit has reached a predetermined level;
- said control means being arranged to operate said measuring circuit in the second sequence mode and responsive to the characteristic output of said threshold circuit to control the shifting of the operation mode from the second sequence mode to the third sequence mode.
- 7. An image signal producing system comprising:
- (A) image scanning means for scanning an image of an object, said scanning means having a plurality of signal integration and storing type radiation sensitive portions arranged to receive respective image portions of the image and to provide an electrical output indicative of the radiation distribution of the image;
- (B) processing means for processing the electrical output of said scanning means and for producing an image signal corresponding to the image;
- (C) first means operative to set said image scanning means to a condition such that the electrical output is discarded from said scanning means and to cause read out of the electrical output from said scanning means;
- (D) second means operative to produce a characteristic indication when the integration of signals by said image scanning means reaches a predetermined threshold; and
- (E) control means for controlling first, second, and third sequence modes of operation of the system, wherein said control means causes said first means to effect the setting of said scanning means to the discard condition during the first mode, causes said second means to operate so as to produce the characteristic indication when the integration of the signals by said scanning means reaches the threshold during the second mode which is subsequent to the first mode, and causes, in response to the production of the characteristic indication by said second means, said first means to effect the read-out of the output from said scanning means during the third mode subsequent to the second mode, the read-out output being supplied to said processing means.
- 8. The system according to claim 7, wherein said second means includes:
- a radiation measuring circuit of a signal integration type for measuring a radiation substantially equivalent to that impinging upon said image scanning means, said measuring circuit producing an electrical output corresponding to an integration of said light; and
- a threshold circuit for producing the characteristic indication when the output of said measuring circuit has reached a predetermined level;
- said control means being arranged to operate said measuring circuit in the second sequence mode and responsive to the characteristic indication produced from said threshold circuit to control the shifting of the operation mode from the second sequence mode to the third sequence mode.
- 9. An optical detecting device for performing a detection operation related to the range of an object spaced from the device, said device comprising:
- (A) image sensing means and optical means for imaging the object of said sensing means, said sensing means having a plurality of sensing elements adapted to produce and store electrical indications of the integration of intensity of respective image portions;
- (B) processing means to process the electrical indications and to produce therefrom an output which is a function of the range of the object from the device;
- (C) drive means for driving said image sensing means, said drive means being operative to set said sensing means to a condition such that the electrical indications are discarded from said sensing means and to cause read-out of the electrical indications from said sensing means;
- (D) monitor means for monitoring the integration of the intensities of the image portions by said image sensing means as said sensing means integrates the intensities of the image portions, said monitor means producing a characteristic output when the integration of the intensities of the image portions by said sensing means reaches a predetermined threshold; and
- (E) sequence control means for controlling first, second, and third sequence modes of operation of the device, wherein said control means causes said drive means to effect the setting of said sensing means to the discard condition and causes said monitor means to be ineffective during the first mode, causes said monitor means to effect the monitoring of the integration of the intensities of the image portions by said sensing means during the second mode which is subsequent to the first mode, and causes, in response to the characteristic output produced by said monitor means, said drive means to effect the read-out of the indications from said sensing means during the third mode subsequent to the second mode, the read-out indications being supplied to said processing means.
- 10. The device according to claim 9, wherein said monitoring means includes:
- a measuring circuit of a signal integration type for measuring the intensity of a light substantially equivalent to that impinging upon said image sensing means, said measuring circuit producing an electrical output correspondence to an integration of the intensity of said light; and
- a threshold circuit for producing the characteristic output when the output of said measuring circuit has reached a predetermined level;
- said sequence control means being arranged to operate said measuring circuit in the second sequence mode and responsive to the characteristic output of said threshold circuit to control the shifting of the operation mode from the second sequence mode to the third sequence mode.
- 11. A range detecting system for detecting the range of an object comprising:
- (A) first radiation sensing means for sensing radiation from the object, said sensing means producing an electrical indication indicative of an integration of the sensed radiation over an integration time;
- (B) second radiation sensing means for sensing a radiation substantially equivalent to that sensed by said first sensing means, said second sensing means producing an electrical output corresponding to an integration of the radiation;
- (C) threshold means for producing a characteristic output when the output of said second sensing means has reached a predetermined threshold; and
- (D) control means for causing said first and second sensing means to integrate the radiations, and for causing said first sensing means to termination the integration of the radiation in response to said characteristic output of said threshold means.
- 12. The system according to claim 11, wherein said control means includes:
- readout means for reading out said electrical indication from said first sensing means in response to said characteristic output of said threshold means.
- 13. An image sensing system comprising:
- (A) image sensing means for sensing an image, said sensing means including a plurality of sensing elements each for producing an electrical indication indicative of an integration of the intensity of the sensed image portion over an integration time;
- (B) light sensing means for sensing a light substantially equivalent to that sensed by said image sensing means, said light sensing means producing an electrical output correspondence to an integration of the intensity of said light;
- (C) threshold means for producing a characteristic output when the output of said light sensing means has reached a predetermined threshold; and
- (D) control means for causing said image sensing means and light sensing means to respectively start said integrations, and for causing said image sensing means to terminate the integration on the basis of the characteristic output of said threshold means.
- 14. The system according to claim 13, wherein said control means includes:
- readout means for reading out said electrical indications from said image sensing means on the basis of said characteristic output of said threshold means.
