Claims
- 1. A receptacle assembly comprising:
a guide frame having a front end with an opening to an interior cavity of said guide frame, said front end being configured to receive a module assembly; and an EMI gasket secured to an edge of said opening, said EMI gasket including at least one conductive strap extending along a length of said edge, said at least one conductive strap covering a substantial majority of said edge to form a shielded EMI interface along said edge.
- 2. The receptacle assembly of claim 1 wherein said EMI gasket includes a clip section, that hooks over said edge of said opening.
- 3. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, further comprising top, bottom and side EMI gaskets that are separately secured to top, bottom and side edges of said opening, respectively.
- 4. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a plurality of said conductive straps separated by narrow slots, said conductive straps having widths that are substantially greater than widths of said slots, said conductive straps extending into said interior cavity.
- 5. The receptacle assembly of claim 1 wherein said EMI gasket includes conductive straps distributed adjacent one another along said edge, said conductive straps being separated by thin slots having a width of less than about 1 mm.
- 6. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, further comprising a conductive collar in contact with said EMI gasket, said collar in contact with a compressible gasket secured to an interior surface of a bezel.
- 7. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, further comprising a conductive collar secured over said front end of said guide frame, said collar enclosing said edge and a hooked edge portion of said EMI gasket to secure said EMI gasket to said guide frame.
- 8. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, further comprising a conductive collar secured over said front end of said guide frame, said collar being configured to be pressed against an interior surface of a bezel to form a continuous EMI shielded interface between said guide frame and a bezel.
- 9. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, further comprising a conductive collar having at least one retaining pin to secure said EMI gasket to said guide frame, said collar adapted to establish an electrical connection with a grounding surface on a host board.
- 10. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a flange extending outward from said opening, said flange being configured to engage a bezel to form a continues direct connection along said edge of said opening.
- 11. The receptacle assembly of claim 1 wherein said EMI gasket includes a peripheral clip portion that hooks over an exterior surface of the guide frame, said clip portion including an opening that receives a locking tab to hold said EMI gasket on said guide frame.
- 12. The receptacle assembly of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of said conductive straps that flare laterally outward from said opening.
- 13. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes contact straps being received within individual notches formed along said edge of said opening.
- 14. A receptacle assembly comprising:
a guide frame having a front end with an opening to an interior cavity of said guide frame, said front end being configured to receive a module assembly; and a continuous conductive collar provided on peripheral edges surrounding said opening, said collar being configured to form an uninterrupted and continuous EMI shielding interface with a bezel.
- 15. The receptacle assembly of claim 14, wherein said guide frame receives a transceiver module assembly.
- 16. The receptacle assembly of claim 14, further comprising a conductive EMI gasket configured to be secured to a rear surface of a bezel, said collar directly and compressively engaging said EMI gasket.
- 17. The receptacle assembly of claim 14, wherein said collar includes a groove extending continuously about a rear surface of said collar, said groove receiving said front end of said guide frame.
- 18. The receptacle assembly of claim 14, further comprising an EMI gasket including a plurality of said conductive straps separated by narrow slots, said conductive straps having widths that are substantially greater than widths of said slots, said conductive straps extending into said interior cavity.
- 19. The receptacle assembly of claim 14 further comprising an EMI gasket including conductive straps distributed adjacent one another along said edge, said conductive straps being separated by thin slots having a width of less than about 1 mm.
- 20. The receptacle assembly of claim 14 further comprising an EMI gasket layer having a hole cut therethrough to align with said opening in said guide frame, said EMI gasket layer being adhesively secured to a bezel.
- 21. The receptacle assembly of claim 14 further comprising an EMI gasket layer, said gasket layer being compressible between said front end of said guide frame and a bezel.
- 22. The receptacle assembly of claim 14 further comprising an EMI gasket layer having a hole cut therethrough to align with said opening in said guide frame, said EMI gasket layer secured to said collar.
