Claims
- 1. A receptacle assembly, comprising:
a guide frame having a front end with an opening to an interior cavity of said guide frame, said opening being configured to receive a module assembly, said guide frame having a bottom with a bottom opening to said interior cavity, said bottom being configured to be joined to a circuit board; and an EMI gasket provided along at least a portion of a perimeter of said bottom opening to be held between said guide frame and a circuit board, said EMI gasket forming a shielded interface along said portion of said perimeter of said bottom opening.
- 2. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a series of conductive straps provided along a leading edge of said bottom opening nearest said front end, said conductive straps being provided along said leading edge and having widths sufficient to cover a substantial majority of said leading edge to form said shielded interface along said leading edge.
- 3. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a skirt extending partially along said portion of said perimeter of said bottom opening, said skirt being formed of a rubber elastomer containing conductive particulate material.
- 4. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket comprises a skirt having a groove formed therein, said bottom opening having an edge, at least a portion of said edge fitting in said groove.
- 5. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a U-shaped skirt fitting over side edges and a rear edge of said bottom opening, said skirt being compressible to form a continuous and uninterrupted shielded interface along said side and rear edges of said bottom opening.
- 6. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a flexible base portion fitting along an edge of said bottom opening, said base portion being formed integrally with a series of flexible serrated teeth that project upward into said interior cavity through said bottom opening, said serrated teeth being positioned along an interior surface of a side wall of said guide frame.
- 7. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes a conductive elastomer skirt provided along a rear edge of said bottom opening and includes an upper conductive foam pad provided on said skirt, said pad being held within said interior cavity proximate a rear end of said guide frame.
- 8. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket includes flexible serrated teeth provided along side edges of said bottom opening, said serrated teeth extending from said bottom opening into said interior cavity, said serrated teeth being oriented to engage a module assembly when installed into said guide frame.
- 9. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket is configured to engage a transceiver module assembly about an opening in a front end of the transceiver module assembly
- 10. The receptacle assembly of claim 1, wherein said EMI gasket is compressible between said guide frame and the circuit board.
- 11. A transceiver receptacle assembly comprising:
a guide frame having a front end with an opening to an interior cavity of said guide frame, said opening being configured to receive a transceiver module assembly, said guide frame having a bottom with a bottom opening to said interior cavity, said bottom configured to be mounted to a conductive layer provided on a circuit board, said bottom opening being configured to receive a receptacle connector mounted to the printed circuit board; and an EMI gasket provided along at least a portion of an edge of said bottom opening, said EMI gasket being compressible between said guide frame and the conductive layer on the circuit board.
- 12. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket includes conductive straps provided along one edge of said bottom opening, said conductive straps being deflectable by a transceiver module assembly to directly engage the conductive layer of the circuit board.
- 13. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket includes spring contacts closely spaced proximate one another along a first edge of said bottom opening and a conductive foam layer provided along a second edge of said bottom opening.
- 14. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket includes separate front, rear, and side EMI gaskets provided along respective front, rear and side edges of said bottom opening.
- 15. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket forms a shielded interface surrounding said bottom opening, said shielded interface having a stepped contour that extends along different parallel planes.
- 16. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket includes opposed side gaskets formed of an elastomer containing conductive particulate material.
- 17. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket includes a linear continuous base surface configured to rest on a conductive layer provided on a circuit board.
- 18. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11, wherein said EMI gasket includes first and second portions oriented perpendicular to one another and having smooth lower surfaces configured to rest on a conductive layer provided on a circuit board.
- 19. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11 further comprising a circuit board with a conductive layer provided thereon, said guide frame being directly mounted to said conductive layer.
- 20. The transceiver receptacle assembly of claim 11 further comprising a circuit board with a receptacle connector mounted thereto, said guide frame being mounted to said circuit board with said receptacle connector extending upward into said bottom opening, said EMI gasket surrounding said receptacle connector.
