Claims
- 1. A progressive cavity motor comprising:
- a fixed internal helical member within an outer rotating member having helical threads;
- means to rotate said outer rotating member by passing fluid under pressure into a cavity created between said internal helical member and said helical threads of said outer rotating member; and
- said outer rotating member consisting of a composite material formed of a filament fiber from the group of carbon fibers, ceramic fibers, glass fibers, natural fibers, metallic fibers, which are impregnated with resin.
- 2. A progressive cavity motor comprising:
- a rotatable housing formed of a unitary support section having an internal helical surface section, said support section consisting of a composite material formed of a filament fiber from the group of carbon fibers, ceramic fibers, glass fibers, natural fibers, metallic fibers, which are impregnated with resin, and said helical surface section consisting of a composite material;
- a fixed internal helical member operational within said internal helical surface section forming a cavity there between; and
- means to rotate said housing by passing pressure fluid into said cavity.
- 3. The motor of claim 2 wherein said composite material of said support section is resilient and said internal helical surface section is a rigid composite material.
- 4. The motor of claim 2 wherein said internal helical member is a rigid composite material.
- 5. The motor of claim 2 wherein said internal helical member comprises an rigid composite material bonded to an outer resilient material.
- 6. The motor of claim 5 wherein said resilient material is an elastomer.
- 7. The motor of claim 5 wherein said resilient material is a composite.
