Claims
- 1. A DNA molecule comprising a pRi T.sub.L -DNA promoter and a heterologous foreign structural gene, the promoter and the structural gene being in such position and orientation with respect to one another that the structural gene is expressible in a plant cell under control of the promoter.
- 2. A DNA molecule comprising:
- (a) a pRi T.sub.L -DNA promoter from a gene selected from the group consisting of genes for T.sub.L -DNA ORF's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17, and
- (b) a heterologous structural gene wherein said structural gene is not natively under the control of said promoter, the promoter and the structural gene being in such position and orientation with respect to one another that the structural gene is expressible in a plant cell under control of the promoter, wherein the DNA is within a dicotyledonous plant cell, a dicotyledonous plant tissue, a dicotyledonous plant or a dicotyledonous plant seed.
- 3. A plant, plant cell, plant tissue, or plant seed, each of said plant, cell, tissue, or seed being derived or descended from a genetically modified dicotyledonous plant cell produced by transforming the cell to contain a pRi T.sub.L -DNA promoter and a heterologous foreign structural gene, the promoter and the structural gene being in such a position and orientation with respect to one another that the structural gene is expressible in a plant cell under control of the promoter wherein the promoter/structural gene combination is integrated into a plant chromosome, whereby the combination is flanked by plant DNA, said promoter/structural gene combination being present in said plant, plant cell, plant tissue, or plant seed.
- 4. An isolated nucleic acid molecule designated pRi T.sub.L -DNA and having the nucleic acid sequence of Sequence ID No. 19.
