Claims
- 1. A shaped rigid polyvinyl chloride article having a matte surface and said article comprising a composition having a mixture of a first PVC polymer and a second crosslinked PVC polymer wherein said first PVC polymer and said second crosslinked PVC polymer have different viscoelastic properties and wherein said cross-linked PVC is a skinless crosslinked PVC and said first PVC polymer being present at a level of from about 60 to about 99.5 weight parts and said second crosslinked PVC polymer being present at a level of from about 0.5 to about 40 weight parts, wherein the total weight parts of said first PVC polymer and said second crosslinked PVC polymer is equal to 100 ad wherein said second crosslinked PVC polymer has a particle size greater than 100 microns, and said composition has less than about 10 parts by weight of plasticiser.
- 2. An article of claim 1 wherein said crosslinked polyvinyl chloride has a tan .delta. of rom about 0.1 to about 0.95.
- 3. An article of claim 2 wherein the level of crosslinked polyvinyl chloride is from about 1 to about 20 weight parts.
- 4. An article of claim 3 wherein said crosslinked polyvinyl chloride has a tan .delta. of from about 0.3 to about 0.7.
- 5. An article of claim 1 wherein said article is selected from the group consisting of house siding, pipe, rigid profiles, bottles, and injection molded articles.
- 6. An article of claim 5 wherein said article is a matte surface house siding.
- 7. An article of claim 1 molded in a smooth mold and having a matter surface.
- 8. An article of claim 1 wherein said first PVC polymer and said second PVC polymer are both crosslinked PVC polymers having at least a 0.1 difference in their tan .delta..
- 9. A shaped rigid thermoplastic article having a stucco appearance with uneven surface heights of at least about 0.079 centimeters wherein said article comprises a first PVC polymer and a second crosslinked PVC polymer and wherein said first polymer and said second crosslinked PVC polymer are compatible and wherein said crosslinked PVC is a skinless crosslinked PVC and have different viscoelastic properties, and wherein said second crosslinked PVC polymer has a particle size greater than 100 microns and is present at level of at least about 40 weight parts per 100 parts by weight of the combined weight of said first and second polymers and wherein said composition has less than about 10 parts by weight of plasticizer.
- 10. An article of claim 9 wherein said first polymer is a polyvinyl chloride polymer and said second polymer is a crosslinked polyvinyl chloride polymer.
- 11. An article of claim 10 wherein said crosslinked polyvinyl chloride is present at a level of at least about 40 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the combined weight of said first and second polymers.
- 12. An article of claim 11 wherein said article is selected from the group consisting of house siding and ceiling tile.
- 13. A rigid polymer composition capable of forming a reduced gloss surface comprising a composition comprised of a polymer mixture, said mixture comprising a first PVC polymer and a second crosslinked PVC polymer wherein said first PVC polymer and said second crosslinked PVC polymer are compatible and wherein said crosslinked PVC is a skinless crosslinked PVC and said first PVC polymer being present at a level of from about 60 to about 99.5 weight parts and said second crosslinked PVC polymer being present at a level of from about 0.5 to about 40 weight parts, wherein the total weight parts of said first PVC polymer and said second crosslinked PVC polymer is equal to 100 and wherein said second crosslinked PVC polymer has a particle size greater than 100 microns, and said composition has less than about 10 parts by weight of plasticizer.
- 14. A rigid thermoplastic composition capable of being formed by extrusion into a stucco appearing article comprising a composition having a mixture of a first PVC polymer and a second crosslinked PVC polymer wherein said first PVC polymer and said second crosslinked PVC polymer having different viscoelastic properties wherein said second crosslinked PVC polymer is a skinless crosslinked PVC and has a particle size greater than 100 microns and is present at a level of at least about 40 weight parts per 100 parts by weight of the combined weight of said first and second polymers, and wherein said composition has less than about 10 parts by weight of plasticizer.
- 15. A composition of claim 14 wherein said crosslinked polyvinyl chloride is present at a level of at least about 40 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the combined weight of said first and second polymers.
- 16. A composition of claim 13 wherein said first polymer is a lightly crosslinked polyvinyl chloride having a tan .delta. greater than about 0.7 and said second polymer is a heavily crosslinked polyvinyl chloride having a tan .delta. less than about 0.5.
- 17. A composition of claim 16 wherein said lightly crosslinked polyvinyl chloride has a tan .delta. greater than about 0.9 and said heavily crosslinked polyvinyl chloride has a tan .delta. less than about 0.4.
