Claims
- 1. A feeder for storing a plurality of circuit components of a same sort and supplying the components one by one from a component-supply portion thereof, the feeder comprising:a tape-feeding mechanism which engages a tape carrying the circuit components and unwinds and feeds the tape from a reel to the component-supply portion; an elongate frame which is adapted to be held by a table such that the elongate frame extends in a substantially horizontal direction and includes a central portion in said substantially horizontal direction, and which includes the component-supply portion, supports the tape-feeding mechanism, and additionally includes a tape-guide portion which guides the tape fed from the reel to the component-supply portion, along a tape-guide path a portion of which extends in a lengthwise direction of the elongate frame; and a reel-holding portion which is connected to, and pendent from, the elongate frame so as to be mounted independently of the table, and which holds the reel around which the tape is wound, such that all of the reel is vertically positioned below the elongate frame and a majority of the reel is within vertical planes defined by opposite end portions of the elongate frame.
- 2. A feeder according to claim 1, wherein the table on which the elongate frame is adapted to be held is a movable table, and wherein the feeder further comprises a reel-holding portion connecting device which connects the reel-holding portion to the elongate frame such that a center of gravity of the reel-holding portion and the reel held thereby is movable relative to the elongate frame in a first direction substantially parallel to a second direction in which the elongate frame is moved with the movable table.
- 3. A feeder according to claim 2, wherein the reel-holding portion connecting device comprises connecting means for connecting the reel-holding portion to the elongate frame such that a whole of the reel-holding portion is substantially parallel-translatable relative to the elongate frame in the first direction.
- 4. A feeder according to claim 3, wherein the connecting means comprises:at least one connecting member which extends in a substantially vertical direction; a first hinge device which connects one of opposite end portions of the connecting member to the elongate frame, such that the connecting member is pivotable about a first axis line which is perpendicular to the second direction; and a second hinge device which connects the other end portion of the connecting member to the reel-holding portion, such that the connecting member is pivotable about a second axis line which is perpendicular to the second direction and which is distant from the first axis line in a vertical direction.
- 5. A feeder according to claim 2, wherein the reel-holding portion connecting device comprises means for connecting the reel-holding portion to the elongate frame such that the reel-holding portion is pivotable relative to the elongate frame about an axis line which is perpendicular to the second direction.
- 6. A feeder according to claim 2, wherein the reel-holding portion connecting device comprises relative-rotation allowing means for allowing the reel-holding portion to be rotated relative to the elongate frame about a substantially vertical axis line.
- 7. A feeder according to claim 6, wherein the relative-rotation allowing means comprises a torsion member which is elastically twistable about a substantially vertical axis line.
- 8. A feeder according to claim 1, wherein the reel-holding portion is pendent from an intermediate portion of the elongate frame in the lengthwise direction thereof.
- 9. A feeder according to claim 8, wherein the elongate frame includes a held portion which is located on a first of two opposite sides of the intermediate portion thereof and which is adapted to be held by the table.
- 10. A feeder according to claim 9, wherein the component-supply portion of the elongate frame is located on the other of the opposite sides of the intermediate portion of the elongate frame.
- 11. A feeder according to claim 1, wherein the table on which the elongate frame is adapted to be held is a movable table, and wherein the feeder further comprises a reel-holding portion connecting device which connects the reel-holding portion to the elongate frame such that the reel-holding portion is pendent from the elongate frame and, when the reel-holding portion is subjected to a force exerted thereto in a horizontal direction, the reel-holding portion is moved, by the force, relative to the elongate frame in the horizontal direction.
