Claims
- 1. A system for projecting and utilizing a light beam as a reference line for laying conduit comprising:
- a housing;
- a light beam projecting device mounted in said housing;
- light compensator means within said housing for intercepting said beam of light and automatically deflecting said beam of light through an angle of n.phi. when the longitudinal axis of the beam of light projected from the light projecting device is tilted at an angle of .phi. from true horizontal, said compensator having a liquid-air interface remaining parallel to true horizontal to provide compensation;
- a shield member mounted within said housing on the opposite side of the light compensating means from said light beam projecting device and having an aperture therein aligned with the path of the undeflected beam of light projected from said light beam projecting device through said light compensator means, the aperture within said shield being of a predetermined size to prevent the passage of the beam of light therethrough when the beam of light projected by the light beam projecting device deviates a predetermined angle from true horizontal.
- 2. The light projection system of claim 1 and further comprising:
- lens means positioned on the opposite side of said shield member from said compensator means for adjusting for the over compensation of the light beam from true horizontal by said light compensator means so that the path of the light beam is along the true horizontal upon passage therethrough.
