Claims
- 1. A chromatographic separation medium comprising a chromatographic inert substrate having a coating comprising a polymeric N-acyl diazepine moiety of the general formula: ##STR8## where R is a hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, R.sub.2 is a divalent alkylene radical, and R.sub.3 is an alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl group.
- 2. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 1 wherein said coating is a copolymer of said diazepine moiety and a copolymeric moiety.
- 3. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 2 wherein said copolymeric moiety has the general formula: ##STR9## where R.sub.6 is alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, and R.sub.5 is alklylene.
- 4. A chromatographic separation medium comprising a chromatographic inert substrate having a coating comprising a polymeric N-acyl diazepine moiety of the general formula: ##STR10##
- 5. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 1 wherein said substrate is in the form of a plurality of particles of substantially uniform size in the range of between about 1 to 300 .mu.m in diameter.
- 6. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 5 wherein said particles are substantially imporous.
- 7. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 5 wherein said particles are substantially porous and have an average pore diameter in the range of between about 50 to 50,000 A.
- 8. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 1 wherein said substrate is selected from the group consisting of silica, alumina, magnesia, titania and zirconia.
- 9. Method of manufacturing a chromatographic column packing comprising the step of coating onto a chromatographically inert substrate, an N-acyl diazepine polymer.
