Claims
- 1. A silver halide photographic element capable of being scanned for image information following imagewise exposure and photographic development and fixing comprised of
- a support and, coated on the support,
- a sequence of superimposed blue, green and red recording silver halide emulsion layer units that produce images of the same hue upon photographic development and fixing, one of the emulsion layer units forming a first emulsion layer unit in the sequence coated nearest the support, another of the emulsion layer units forming a last emulsion layer unit in the sequence coated farthest from the support, and the remaining one of the emulsion layer units forming an intermediate emulsion layer unit located between the first and last emulsion layer units, and
- a first interlayer unit coated between the first emulsion layer unit and the intermediate emulsion layer unit capable of transmitting to the first emulsion layer unit electromagnetic radiation the first emulsion layer unit is provided to record and a second interlayer unit coated between the intermediate emulsion layer unit and the last emulsion layer unit capable of transmitting to the first and intermediate emulsion layer units electromagnetic radiation the first and intermediate emulsion layer units are provided to record,
- WHEREIN
- one of the interlayer units is comprised of means for rendering said one of the interlayer units when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorptive in a scanning wavelength region and capable of emitting electromagnetic radiation within a longer wavelength detection region and
- the remaining interlayer unit is comprised of means for rendering said remaining layer unit when scanned following photographic development and fixing reflective or absorbing in a scanning wavelength region.
- 2. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 1 wherein said one of the interlayer units is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned after photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in one wavelength region and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength region and an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned after photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits.
- 3. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 1 wherein each of the interlayer units is comprised of means that render each of the interlayer units when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorptive in a scanning wavelength region and capable of emitting electromagnetic radiation within a longer wavelength detection region.
- 4. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 3 wherein each of the interlayer units is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in one wavelength detection region and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength region and an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits.
- 5. A silver halide photographic element capable of being scanned for image information following imagewise exposure and photographic development and fixing comprised of
- a transparent support and, coated on the support,
- a sequence of superimposed blue, green and red recording silver halide emulsion layer units that produce images of the same hue upon photographic development and fixing, one of the emulsion layer units forming a first emulsion layer unit in the sequence coated nearest the support, another of the emulsion layer units forming a last emulsion layer unit in the sequence coated farthest from the support, and the remaining one of the emulsion layer units forming an intermediate emulsion layer unit located between the first and last emulsion layer units, and
- a first interlayer unit coated between the first emulsion layer unit and the intermediate emulsion layer unit capable of transmitting to the first emulsion layer unit electromagnetic radiation the first emulsion layer unit is provided to record and a second interlayer unit coated between the intermediate emulsion layer unit and the last emulsion layer unit capable of transmitting to the first and intermediate emulsion layer units electromagnetic radiation the first and intermediate emulsion layer units are provided to record,
- WHEREIN
- each of the interlayer units is comprised of means for rendering each of the interlayer units when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorptive in a scanning wavelength region and capable of emitting electromagnetic radiation within a longer wavelength detection region.
- 6. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 5 wherein said means are chosen to render the interlayer units capable of emitting in detectibly different longer wavelength regions.
- 7. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 5 wherein said means are chosen to render the interlayer units absorptive in detectibly different wavelength regions.
- 8. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 5 wherein said means are chosen to render both of the interlayer units absorptive in the same scanning wavelength region and capable of emitting in the same longer wavelength detection region.
- 9. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 8 wherein at least one interlayer unit is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in one scanning wavelength region and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength detection region and an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits.
- 10. A photographic element capable of being scanned for image information following imagewise exposure and photographic development and fixing comprised of
- a transparent support and, coated on the support,
- a sequence of superimposed blue, green and red recording silver bromoiodide emulsion layer units that produce images of the same hue upon photographic development and fixing, the blue recording emulsion layer unit being coated farthest from the support and the red recording layer unit being coated nearest the support, and
- a first interlayer unit coated between the red and green recording emulsion layer units capable of transmitting red light and a second interlayer unit coated between the green and blue recording emulsion layer units capable of transmitting green and red light and absorbing blue light,
- WHEREIN
- the first interlayer unit is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in a scanning wavelength region other than the red and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength detection region and, positioned farther from the support, an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits and
- the second interlayer unit is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in a scanning wavelength region other than the red and green and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength detection region and, positioned nearer the support, an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits.
- 11. A photographic element according to claim 10 wherein the absorptive sub-layer of the second interlayer unit absorbs light in the blue region of the spectrum.
- 12. A silver halide photographic element capable of being scanned for image information following imagewise exposure and photographic development and fixing comprised of
- a reflective support and, coated on the support,
- a sequence of superimposed blue, green and red recording silver halide emulsion layer units that produce images of the same hue upon photographic development and fixing, one of the emulsion layer units forming a first emulsion layer unit in the sequence coated nearest the support, another of the emulsion layer units forming a last emulsion layer unit in the sequence coated farthest from the support, and the remaining one of the emulsion layer units forming an intermediate emulsion layer unit located between the first and last emulsion layer units, and
- a first interlayer unit coated between the first emulsion layer unit and the intermediate emulsion layer unit capable of transmitting to the first emulsion layer unit electromagnetic radiation this emulsion layer unit is provided to record and a second interlayer unit coated between the intermediate emulsion layer unit and the last emulsion layer unit capable of transmitting to the first and intermediate emulsion layer units electromagnetic radiation these emulsion layer units are provided to record,
- WHEREIN
- each of the interlayer units is comprised of means for rendering each of the interlayer units when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorptive in a scanning wavelength region and capable of emitting electromagnetic radiation within a longer wavelength detection region and said means are chosen to render the interlayer units detectibly different in at least one of their (a) wavelength range of absorption, (b) wavelength range of emission and (c) time interval of emission.
- 13. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 12 wherein said means are chosen to render the interlayer units capable of emitting in different longer wavelength detection regions.
- 14. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 12 wherein said means are chosen to render the interlayer units absorptive in different wavelength detection regions.
- 15. A silver halide photographic element according to claim 12 wherein said means present in one of the interlayer units emits over a detectibly longer time interval than said means present in the other interlayer unit.
- 16. A photographic element capable of being scanned for image information following imagewise exposure and photographic development and fixing comprised of
- a reflective support and, coated on the support,
- a sequence of superimposed blue, green and red recording silver bromoiodide emulsion layer units that produce images of the same hue upon photographic development and fixing, the blue recording emulsion layer unit being coated farthest from the support and the red recording layer unit being coated nearest the support, and
- a first interlayer unit coated between the red and green recording emulsion layer units capable of transmitting red light and a second interlayer unit coated between the green and blue recording emulsion layer units capable of transmitting green and red light and absorbing blue light,
- WHEREIN
- the first interlayer unit is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in a scanning wavelength region other than the red and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength detection region and, positioned nearer to the support, an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits and
- the second interlayer unit is comprised of an emissive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in a scanning wavelength region other than the red and green and emits electromagnetic radiation in a longer wavelength detection region and, positioned nearer the support, an absorptive sub-layer that when scanned following photographic development and fixing absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength region in which the emissive sub-layer absorbs or emits.
- 17. A photographic element according to claim 16 wherein the absorptive sub-layer of the second interlayer unit absorbs light in the blue region of the spectrum.
