Claims
- 1. A silver halide photographic emulsion containing, in supersensitizing amounts, a combination of
- at least one benzimidazolocarbocyanine dye wherein an aralkyl group substituted with an acidic group is connected to at least one nitrogen atom in the imidazole ring, which is represented by the following general formula (I-B) ##STR15## wherein V.sub.101, V.sub.102, V.sub.103 and V.sub.104, which may be the same or different, each represents a hyrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group, a cyano group, a trifluoromethyl group or a hydroxy group, with the proviso that at least one of V.sub.101 and V.sub.102, and V.sub.103 and V.sub.104, represents simultaneously a chlorine atom; R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group, with the proviso that R.sub.3 can also be a substituted alkyl group; A represents a sulfo group or a carboxy group; X.sub.1 represents an acid residue; h represents an integer from 1 to 6; and i represents 0 or 1;
- at least one cyanine dye represented by the following general formula (II): ##STR16## wherein Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 are selected from one of the following combinations (A)-(E): (A) Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthothiazole nucleus, and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole or a naphthothiazole nucleus;
- (B) Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus, and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzoxazole nucleus;
- (C) Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus, and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthoxazole nucleus;
- (D) Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthothiazole nucleus, and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessaty to complete a benzoxazole nucleus;
- (E) Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthothiazole nucleus, and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthoxazole nucleus, wherein a heterocyclic nucleus and/or a benzene nucleus, present in a naphthothiazole or naphthoxaxole group, may be substituted with one or more substituents selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group containing 6 or less carbon atoms, an alkenyl group containing 6 or less carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group containing 6 or less carbon atoms, an aryl group, which may be mono- or bicyclic, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group containing 7 or less carbon atoms, an acyl group containing 8 or less carbon atoms, a carboxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group containing 8 or less carbon atoms, or a halogen atom; R.sub.4 represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group or an aryl group; R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group; X.sub.2 represents an acid residue; and l represents 1 and n represents 0 or 1.
- 2. The silver halide photographic emulsion as described in claim 1, wherein Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthothiazole nucleus; and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus or a naphthothiazole nucleus.
- 3. The silver halide photographic emulsion as described in claim 1, wherein Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus; and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzoxazole nucleus.
- 4. The silver halide photographic emulsion as described in claim 1, wherein Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus; and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthoxazole nucleus.
- 5. The silver halide photographic emulsion as described in claim 1, wherein Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthothiazole nucleus; and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzoxazole nucleus.
- 6. The silver halide photographic emulsion as described in claim 1, wherein Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a naphthothiazole nucleus; and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a nphthoxazole nucleus.
- 7. The silver halide photographic emulsion as described in claim 1, wherein Z.sub.1 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzothiazole nucleus which is substituted at the 5-position with a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, an alkyl group or a phenyl group and Z.sub.2 represents the atoms necessary to complete a benzoxazole nucleus which is substituted at the 5-position with a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, an alkyl group or a phenyl group.
