Claims
- 1. A silver halide photographic material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support, said at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing (a) a contrast-promoting hydrazine compound represented by formula (I)
- R.sub.1 --NHNH--CHO (I)
- wherein R.sub.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic group or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group in an amount of from 10.sup.-6 to 10.sup.-1 mol per mol of silver in said at least one silver halide emulsion layer, and (b) at least two types of developing agents selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acids, dihydroxybenzenes 3-pyrazolidones and aminophenols in an amount of from 0.1 to 0.005 mol per mol of silver in said at least one silver halide emulsion layer, said at least two types being a combination of developing agents wherein at least one of said dihydroxybenzenes or said ascorbic acids is present in combination with at least one of said 3-pyrazolidones or said aminophenols.
- 2. A silver halide photographic material as in claim 1, wherein the hydrazine compound is present in an amount of 1.times.10.sup.-5 to 4.times.10.sup.-2 mol per mol of silver halide.
- 3. A silver halide photographic material as in claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of said at least one of dihydroxybenzenes or ascorbic acids in combination with at least one of said 3-pyrazolidones or aminophenols is from 1 to 50.
- 4. A silver halide photographic material as in claim 3, wherein said molar ratio is from 3 to 20.
- 5. An image forming method which comprises conducting imagewise exposure of a silver halide photographic material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support, said at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing (a) a contrast-promoting hydrazine compound represented by formula (I)
- R.sub.1 --NHNH--CHO (I)
- wherein R.sub.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic group or a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic group in an amount of from 10.sup.-6 to 10.sup.-1 mol per mol of silver in said at least one silver halide emulsion layer, and (b) at least two types of developing agents selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acids, dihydroxybenzenes 3-pyrazolidones and aminophenols in an amount of from 0.1 to 0.005 mol per mol of silver in said at least one silver halide emulsion layer, said at least two types being a combination of developing agents wherein at least one of said dihydroxybenzenes or said ascorbic acids is present in combination with at least one of said 3-pyrazolidones or said aminophenols, and developing said photographic material with a developing solution that contains sulfite ions in a concentration of not less than 0.15 mol per liter and a dihydroxybenezene as a developing agent in a concentration of 0.05 to 0.5 mol per liter and which has a pH within the range of from 10.5 to 12.3.
- 6. An image forming method as in claim 5, wherein the hydrazine compound is present in an amount of 1.times.10.sup.-5 to 4.times.10.sup.-2 mole per mol of silver halide.
- 7. An image forming method as in claim 5, wherein the molar ratio of said at least one of dihydroxybenzenes or ascorbic acids in combination with at least one of said 3-pyrazolidones or aminophenols is from 1 to 50.
- 8. An image forming method as in claims 7, wherein said molar ratio is from 3 to 20.
