Claims
- 1. A silver halide photographic material that contains at least one compound represented by the general formula (2 ) shown below and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of the compounds represented by the general formulas (3) and (4) shown below: ##STR46## where Z.sup.1 represents the non-metallic atomic group necessary to form an optionally substituted benzothiazole, benzoxazole, naphthothiazole or naphthoxazole nucleus; Z.sup.2 represents the non-metallic atomic group necessary to form an optionally substituted benzothiazole nucleus; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each independently represents an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, a substituted alkyl group or anryl group; X.sup..crclbar. is an anion; n is 1 or 2 and when an intramolecular salt is formed, n is 1; ##STR47## where R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, a straight-chained or branched alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, an alkylamido group, an arylamido group, an alkylthioamido group, an arylthioamido group, an alkylsulfamido group or an arylsulfamido group; R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, an aryl group, a cyano group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, an alkylsulfoxide group, an alkylsulfonyl group, or a heterocyclic group; ##STR48## where R.sup.6 1 s a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a hydroxymethyl group; and R.sup.7 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group.
- 2. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 1 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (2) is used in an amount of 0.003-0.3 g per mole of silver halide.
- 3. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 1 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (2) is used in an amount of 0.01-0.15 g per mole of silver halide.
- 4. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 1 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (2) is added during chemical ripening.
- 5. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 1 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (3) is a compound represented by the following general formula (3-1) or (3-2): ##STR49## where R.sup.8 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; R.sup.9, R.sup.10 and R.sup.11 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a cyano group or a nitro group; R.sup.12 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, --CONHR.sup.15 (where R.sup.15 is an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, an alkylsulfonyl group or an arylsulfonyl group) or a heterocyclic group; R.sup.13 and R.sup.14 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, a cyano group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group, an alkylsulfoxide group, an alkylsulfinyl group, an alkylsulfonyl group or a heterocyclic group.
- 6. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 5 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (3-1) is incorporated in an amount ranging from 1.times.10.sup.-5 to 10 wt % of a hydrophilic colloid.
- 7. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 5 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (3-1) is incorporated in an amount ranging from 1.times.10.sup.-4 to 1 wt % of a hydrophilic colloid.
- 8. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 5 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (3-2) is incorporated in an amount ranging from 1.times.10.sup.-4 to 10 wt % of a hydrophilic colloid.
- 9. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 5 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (3-2) is incorporated in an amount ranging from 3.times.10.sup.-4 to 1 wt % of a hydrophilic colloid.
- 10. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 1 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (4) is incorporated in an amount ranging from 1.times.10.sup.-5 to 10 wt % Of a hydrophilic colloid.
- 11. A silver halide photographic material according to claim 1 wherein the compound represented by the general formula (4) is incorporated in an amount ranging from 1.times.10.sup.-4 to 1 wt % of a hydrophilic colloid.
