Claims
- 1. A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one other hydrophilic colloid layer, wherein at least one of said emulsion layer and said other hydrophilic colloid layer contains at least one hydrazine derivative represented by formula (I) and at least one nucleation accelerator represented by formula (XII) or (XIV), and said emulsion layer comprises an emulsion which contains silver halide grains containing a heavy metal selected from the group consisting of Ir, Ru, Rh, Re and Cr in an amount of at least 1.times.10.sup.-5 mol per mol of silver halide and having a silver chloride content of 95 mol % or more, said grains being formed under acidic conditions and then subjected to gold-sulfur sensitization, ##STR21## wherein R.sub.1 represents an aliphatic or aromatic group substituted by a sulfonamide group, R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an unsaturated heterocyclic group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an amino group or a hydrazino group and A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 both represent a hydrogen atom or one represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkylsulfonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylsulfonyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted acyl group; ##STR22## wherein R.sub.11, R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 each represents an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group or a heterocyclic residue which may further have a substituent, m represents an integer of from 1 to 4, L represents an m-valent organic group connected to the P atom through the carbon atom, n represents an integer of from 1 to 3 and X represents an n-valent anion provided that X may be linked with L; ##STR23## wherein A represents an organic group necessary for completing the hetero ring, D represents a divalent group, R.sub.16 and R.sub.17 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and X.sub.1 represents an anion group provided that when an inner salt is formed, X.sub.1 is not required.
- 2. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one of the compounds represented by formulae (XVI), (XVII) and (XVIII) is added during the step of grain formation and/or gold-sulfur sensitization of said silver halide emulsion (a):
- R--SO.sub.2 S--M (XVI)
- R--SO.sub.2 S--R.sup.1 (XVII)
- R--SO.sub.2 S--L.sub.1 m.sub.1 --SSO.sub.2 --R.sup.2 (XVIII)
- wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, M represents a cation, L.sub.1 represents a divalent linking group and m.sub.1 is 0 or 1, provided that the compound represented by formula (XVI), (XVII) or (XVIII) may be a polymer containing a divalent group derived from the structure represented by formula (XVI), (XVII) or (XVIII) as a repeating unit.
- 3. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein R.sup.1 is a phenyl group which is capable of accelerating adsorption of the hydrazine derivative of formula (I) to the silver halide grain surface or is a phenyl group which contains an alkylthio group.
- 4. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 2, wherein R.sup.1 is a phenyl group which is capable of accelerating adsorption of the hydrazine derivative of formula (I) to the silver halide grain surface or is a phenyl group which contains an alkylthio group.
- 5. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said nucleation accelerator is a compound represented by formula (XIV).
- 6. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 2, wherein said nucleation accelerator is a compound represented by formula (XIV).
- 7. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said heavy metal is Rh.
- 8. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein said heavy metal is Ru.
- 9. A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide, emulsion layer and at least one other hydrophilic colloid layer, wherein at least one of said emulsion layer and said other hydrophillic colloid layer contains at least one hydrazine derivative represented by formula (I) and at least one nucleation accelerator represented by formula (XII) or (XIV), and said emulsion layer comprises an emulsion which contains silver halide grains containing a heavy metal selected from the group consisting of Ir, Ru, Rh, Re and Cr in an amount of at least 1.times.10.sup.-5 mol per mol of silver halide and having a silver chloride content of 95 mol % or more, said grains being subjected to chemical sensitizaation with at least one compound selected from the group consisting of the compounds represented by formula (VI), (VII), (VIII), (IX) or (X): ##STR24## wherein R.sub.1 represents an aliphatic or aromatic group substituted by a sulfonamide group, R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an unsaturated heterocyclic group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an amino group or a hydrazino group and A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 both represent a hydrogen atom or one represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkylsulfonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylsulfonyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted acyl group; ##STR25## wherein R.sub.11, R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 each represents an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group or a heterocyclic residue which may further have a substituent, m represents an integer of from 1 to 4, L represents an m-valent organic group connected to the P atom through the carbon atom, n represents an integer of from 1 to 3 and X represents an n-valent anion provided that X may be linked with L; ##STR26## wherein A represents an organic group necessary for completing the hetero ring, D represents a divalent group, R.sub.16 and R.sub.17 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and X.sub.1 represents an anion group provided that when an inner salt is formed, X.sub.1 is not required; ##STR27## wherein Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, --NR.sub.21 (R.sub.22), --OR.sub.23 or --SR.sub.24, wherein R.sub.21, R.sub.22, R.sub.23 and R.sub.24, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group, the alkyl group, the aralkyl group, the aryl group or the heterocyclic group including the same groups as those for Z.sub.1, provided that R.sub.2, and R.sub.22 may be a hydrogen atom or an acyl group; ##STR28## wherein Z.sub.3, Z.sub.4 and Z.sub.5, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, --OR.sub.25, --NR.sub.26 (R.sub.27), --SR.sub.28, --SeR.sub.29, X.sub.11 or a hydrogen atom, wherein R.sub.25, R.sub.28 and R.sub.29 each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, a hydrogen atom or a cation, R.sub.26 and R.sub.27 each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or a hydrogen atom and X.sub.11 represents a halogen atom; ##STR29## wherein R.sub.31, R.sub.32 and R.sub.33 each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, OR.sub.34, NR.sub.35 (R.sub.36), SR.sub.37, OSiR.sub.38 (R.sub.39) (R.sub.40), X.sub.11 or a hydrogen atom, wherein R.sub.34 and R.sub.37 each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, a hydrogen atom or a cation, R.sub.35 and R.sub.36 each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or a hydrogen atom, R.sub.38, R.sub.39 and R.sub.40 each represents an aliphatic group and X.sub.11 represents a halogen atom; ##STR30## wherein R.sub.51, represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or --NR.sub.53 (R.sub.54) and R.sub.52 represents --NR.sub.55 (R.sub.56), --N (R.sub.57) N (R.sub.58) R.sub.59 or --OR.sub.60, wherein R.sub.53, R.sub.54, R.sub.55, R.sub.56, R.sub.57 , R.sub.58, R.sub.59 and R.sub.60 each represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or an acyl group, provided that R.sub.51, and R.sub.55, R.sub.51 and R.sub.57, R.sub.51 and R.sub.58, R.sub.51 and R.sub.60, R.sub.53 and R.sub.55, R.sub.53 and R.sub.57, R.sub.53 and R.sub.58, or R.sub.53 and R.sub.60 may be combined with each other to form a ring;

- wherein R.sub.61 and R.sub.62, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, --(C.dbd.Y')--R.sub.63, wherein R.sub.63 represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group, NR.sub.64 (R.sub.65), OR.sub.66 or SR.sub.67 and Y' represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or NR.sub.68, wherein R.sub.64, R.sub.65, R.sub.66, R.sub.67 and R.sub.68 each represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, and n represents 1 or 2.
- 10. A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one other hydrophilic colloid layer, wherein at least one of said emulsion layer and said other hydrophilic colloid layer contains at least one hydrazine derivative represented by formula (I) and at least one nucleation accelerator represented by formula (XII) or (XIV), and said emulsion layer comprises an emulsion which contains silver halide grains containing a heavy metal selected from the group consisting of Ir, Ru, Rh, Re and Cr in an amount of at least 1.times.10.sup.-5 mol per mol of silver halide and at least one iron compound and having a silver chloride content of 95 mol % or more: ##STR31## wherein R.sub.1 represents an aliphatic or aromatic group substituted by a sulfonamide group, R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an unsaturated heterocyclic group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an amino group or a hydrazino group and A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 both represent a hydrogen atom or one represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkylsulfonyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted arylsulfonyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted acyl group; ##STR32## wherein R.sub.11, R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 each represents an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkenyl group or a heterocyclic residue which may further have a substituent, m represents an integer of from 1 to 4, L represents an m-valent organic group connected to the P atom through the carbon atom, n represents an integer of from 1 to 3 and X represents an n-valent anion provided that X may be linked with L; ##STR33## wherein A represents an organic group necessary for completing the hetero ring, D represents a divalent group, R.sub.16 and R.sub.17 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and X.sub.1 represents an anion group provided that when an inner salt is formed, X.sub.1 is not required.
- 11. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 9, wherein at least one of the compounds represented by formulae (XVI), (XVII) and (XVII) is added during the step of grain formation and/or gold-sulfur sensitization of said emulsion:
- R--SO.sub.2 S--M (XVI)
- R--SO.sub.2 S--R.sup.1 (XVII)
- R--SO.sub.2 S--L.sub.1 m.sub.1 --SSO.sub.2 --R.sup.2 (XVIII)
- wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, M represents a cation, L.sub.1 represents a divalent linking group and m.sub.2 is 0 or 1, provided that the compound represented by formula (XVI), (XVI) or (XVIII) may be a polymer containing a divalent group derived from the structure represented by formula (XVI), (XVII) or (XVII) as a repeating unit.
- 12. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 10, wherein at least one of the compounds represented by formulae (XVI), (XVII) and (XVI) is added during the step of grain formation and/or gold-sulfur sensitization of said emulsion:
- R--SO.sub.2 S--M (XVI)
- R--SO.sub.2 S--R.sup.1 (XVII)
- R--SO.sub.2 S--L.sub.1 m.sub.1 --SSO.sub.2 --R.sup.2 (XVIII)
- wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, each represents an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, M represents a cation, L.sub.1 represents a divalent linking group and m.sub.1 is 0 or 1, provided that the compound represented by formula (XVI), (XVII) or (XVII) may be a polymer containing a divalent group derived from the structure represented by formula (XVI), (XVII) or (XVIII) as a repeating unit.
- 13. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein the nucleation accelerator is represented by formula (XII).
- 14. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 9, wherein the nucleation accelerator is represented by formula (XII).
- 15. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 9, wherein the nucleation accelerator is represented by formula (XIV).
- 16. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 10, wherein the nucleation accelerator is represented by formula (XII).
- 17. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 10, wherein the nucleation accelerator is represented by formula (XIV).
- 18. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 9, wherein R.sup.1 is a phenyl group which is capable of accelerating adsorption of the hydrazine derivative of formula (I) to the silver halide grain surface or is a phenyl group which contains an alkylthio group.
- 19. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 10, wherein R.sup.1 is a phenyl group which is capable of accelerating adsorption of the hydrazine derivative of formula (I) to the silver halide grain surface or is a phenyl group which contains an alkylthio group.
- 20. The silver halide photographic material as claimed in claim 1, wherein the nucleation accelerator is represented by formula (XIV).
