Claims
- 1. A black and white photographic photosensitive material comprising a support and one silver halide emulsion layer provided on the support wherein the silver halide emulsion comprises two or more components differing in Spectral sensitivity in the sensitive wavelength regions of 400-500 nm, 500-600 nm and 600 nm or longer, respectively and the photosensitive material is designed so that different tones can be obtained by selecting exposure wavelength within the said wavelength regions.
- 2. A method for the formation of a black and white image which comprises the following steps:
- exposing a silver halide photographic photosensitive material from a black and white negative using a cyan optical filter for a black and white variable contrast printing paper, said cyan optical filter having a transmittance of 80% or more for a light of 400-525 nm in wavelength, a transmittance of 10% or less for a light of 620-750 nm in wavelength and having a peak of the transmittance being 50% in a wavelength region of 570.+-.45 nm, and said photosensitive material comprising a support and at least one silver halide emulsion layer provided on the support wherein when .gamma. (gamma) values of characteristic curves obtained by exposure through filters having a transmission maximum wavelength at about 430 nm, about 540 nm and about 700 nm are indicated by .gamma..sub.B, .gamma..sub.G, and .gamma..sub.R, respectively, the following inequalities 0.3<.gamma..sub.G /.gamma..sub.B <0.7 and 0.3<.gamma..sub.G /.gamma..sub.R <1.0 are satisfied; and
- carrying out a black and white development.
