Claims
- 1. Apparatus for providing a dust free environment in the discharge of bins or other containers comprising:
- a discharge station for receiving a bin having an outlet opening, said discharge station having a discharge tube for passage of material from said bin outlet opening;
- means on said discharge station for opening and closing a slide gate mounted to open and close the outlet opening of the bin;
- means on said discharge station for moving a dust cover having an opening and mounted on one end of the bin into and out of alignment with said outlet opening;
- an inner seal mounted circumferentially around said discharge tube and adapted to cooperate with said dust cover of said bin;
- an outer seal mounted circumferentially around said discharge tube and radially outwardly of said inner seal and adapted to cooperate with said dust cover of said bin; and
- air supply means for providing air under pressure between said inner and outer seals.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said inner and outer seals are inflatable.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein a dust cove rise mounted on said discharge station and including means for opening and closing said dust cover.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 6 wherein said means for opening and closing a slide gate includes a clamp and clamp bar assembly which operates in conjunction with at least one tension block assembly.
- 5. A method for operating apparatus for providing a dust free environment in the discharging of bins or other containers, which comprises:
- (a) positioning a bin having an outlet opening at a discharge station having a discharge tube for passage of material out of said bin, with first and second inflatable seals mounted circumferentially around said discharge tube, wherein one of said seals is located radially outwardly of the other seal and with an air chamber located between said seals;
- (b) moving a dust cover having an opening and mounted on one end of the bin such that said opening is in alignment with said outlet opening;
- (c) inflating said first seal to seal against said dust cover;
- (d) providing a supply of air under pressure to said air chamber;
- (e) inflating said second seal to seal against said dust cover; and
- (f) opening a slide gate mounted to open and close said outlet opening on said one end of the bin.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein said first seal is located radially inwardly of said second seal.
- 7. The method of claim 5 wherein said first seal is located radially outwardly of said second seal.
