Claims
- 1. A sole structure for an athletic shoe, including a heel region and a forefoot region, and comprising:a midsole that is formed of a soft elastic material, and that comprises a midsole heel portion disposed at said heel region of said sole structure; and an outsole that is formed of a material harder than said soft elastic material, and that comprises an outsole heel portion disposed at said heel region of said mole structure, and an outsole forefoot portion that extends from said outsole heel portion to said forefoot region of said sole structure; wherein: said midsole heel portion has wavy corrugations on a corrugated lower surface thereof along at least one of a medial side portion and a lateral side portion thereof, and a smooth plane without wavy corrugations on an upper surface thereof; said wavy corrugations of said midsole heel portion include alternating successive concavities and convexities on said lower surface of said midsole heel portion; said outsole heel portion comprises a corrugated wavy plate with corrugations through its thickness along at least one of a medial side portion and a lateral side portion thereof, arranged in contact with said corrugated lower surface of said midsole heel portion, and an upraised side portion upraised from said corrugated wavy plate to encompass said midsole heel portion; and said wavy corrugations of said corrugated wavy plate of said outsole heel portion include alternating successive concavities and convexities on an upper surface of said corrugated wavy plate in phase with said alternating successive convexities and concavities on said lower surface of said midsole heel portion, and alternating successive convexities and concavities on a lower surface of said corrugated wavy plate in phase with said concavities and convexities on said upper surface of said corrugated wavy plate.
- 2. The sole structure of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of cleats provided on a bottom surface of said outsole.
- 3. The sole structure of claim 2, wherein said cleats are disposed at a crest or a trough of said wavy corrugations of said outsole.
- 4. The sole structure of claim 2, wherein said cleats are disposed between adjacent crests or troughs of said wavy corrugations of said outsole.
- 5. The sole structure of claim 2, wherein a given one of said cleats extends over two adjacent ones of said convexities and spans one of said concavities between said adjacent convexities on said lower surface of said corrugated wavy plate of said outsole heel portion.
- 6. The sole structure of claim 1, wherein said upraised side portion is provided at a medial side and a lateral side of said outsole heel portion and encloses medial and lateral sides of said midsole heel portion.
- 7. The sole structure of claim 6, wherein said upraised side portion of said outsole heel portion extends upwardly beyond said upper surface of said midsole heel portion.
- 8. The sole structure of claim 1, wherein said wavy corrugations of said midsole heel portion are provided only at said medial side portion and said lateral side portion thereof and not at a central portion between said medial side portion and said lateral side portion thereof, and wherein said corrugations of said outsole heel portion are provided only at said medial side portion and said lateral side portion thereof and not at a central portion between said medial side portion and said lateral side portion thereof.
- 9. The sole structure of claim 1, wherein said corrugation of said midsole and said corrugation of said outsole are provided at said heel region and not at said forefoot region.
- 10. A sole structure of an athletic shoe comprising:a midsole disposed at least at a heel region of said shoe, said midsole having a midsole heel portion with an upper side surface and a lower side surface, said midsole heel portion being formed with corrugation at least either at a medial side or at a lateral side on said lower side surface; and an outsole that is disposed under said midsole and formed of a material with a hardness greater than that of said midsole, said outsole having an outsole heel portion and an outsole forefoot portion, said outsole heel portion being formed with corrugation that corresponds to said corrugation of said midsole heel portion, said outsole forefoot portion extending from said heel region to a forefoot region of said shoe; wherein said corrugation of said midsole and said corrugation of said outsole are provided at said heel region and not at said forefoot region.
- 11. The sole structure of claim 10, wherein said midsole extends from said heel region to said forefoot region of said shoe.
- 12. The sole structure of claim 10, wherein said corrugation of said outsole heel portion is formed consecutively and transversely between a medial side and a lateral side of said outsole heel portion.
- 13. The sole structure of claim 10, wherein a plurality of cleats are provided on a bottom surface of said outsole.
- 14. The sole structure of claim 13, wherein a given one of said cleats extends over two adjacent troughs and spans a crest between said adjacent troughs of said corrugation of said outsole heel portion.
- 15. The sole structure of claim 13, wherein said cleats are disposed at a crest or a trough of said corrugation of said outsole.
- 16. The sole structure of claim 13, wherein said cleats are disposed between adjacent crests or troughs of said corrugation of said outsole.
- 17. The sole structure of claim 10, wherein said outsole heel portion includes an upraised side portion that extends upwardly and encloses medial and lateral sides of said midsole heel portion.
- 18. The sole structure of claim 10, wherein said corrugation of said midsole heel portion and said corrugation of said outsole heel portion are provided only at said medial side and said lateral side and not in a central area between said medial side and said lateral side.
