Claims
- 1. A compound which has the formula: ##STR23## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 each independently represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted alicyclic group, saturated or partially saturated, having from 3 to about 12 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having from about 7 to about 20 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having from about 6 to about 20 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclyl group having from 3 to about 10 carbon atoms; or may be combined together to form one or more rings;
- with the proviso that the alpha hydrogens of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 total no more than seven; and
- with the further proviso that R.sub.1 can additionally be hydrogen when
- (a) R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 join together to form a ring substituted by no more than one alpha hydrogen or
- (b) R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 do not join to form a ring and if at least one of R.sub.2 or R.sub.3 contains an alpha carbon having two different non-hydrogen substituents.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or an alkyl group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is an alkyl group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 is an alkyl or substituted alkyl group of from 2 to about 12 carbon atoms or an aryl or substituted aryl group of 6 to about 20 carbon atoms, or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are combined together to form a ring of about 4 to about 10 atoms.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different alkyl or substituted alkyl groups containing from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 is an alkyl group containing from 2 to about 12 carbon atoms.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are combined together to form a ring of 6 carbon atoms.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each ethyl.
- 6. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.2 is methyl, and R.sub.3 is ##STR24##
- 7. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each methyl and R.sub.3 is ##STR25##
- 8. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is ethyl, R.sub.2 is methyl and R.sub.3 is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH--CH.sub.3.
- 9. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or butyl and R.sub.2 --C--R.sub.3 forms the fenchyl group ##STR26##
- 10. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is methyl and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 form a cyclohexyl ring.
- 11. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is methyl and R.sub.2 --C--R.sub.3 forms the menthyl group ##STR27##
- 12. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, R.sub.2 is methyl and R.sub.3 is phenyl.
