- said base casting including a positioning structure for positioning said data connector assembly;
- said cover including an aperture and a second positioning structure located outside of said enclosure for said data connector assembly;
- wherein a first portion of said data connector assembly is mounted within said enclosure engaging said positioning structure, and a second portion of said data connector assembly extends through said aperture in said cover and outside said enclosure engaging with said second positioning structure of said cover, said first portion seating said seal against said cover to seal said aperture, said second portion mating with a connector on said electronics card assembly.
- 2. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 1, wherein said mating face of said base casting is substantially parallel to said disk axis.
- 3. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 2, wherein:
- said electronics card assembly is mounted substantially perpendicular to said disk axis;
- said aperture in said cover is substantially parallel to said disk axis; and
- said second portion of said data connector assembly comprises a plurality of elongated electrical contacts for mating with corresponding elongated electrical contacts in said connector on said electronics card assembly, the longitudinal axes of said elongated electrical contacts being substantially parallel to said disk axis.
- 4. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 1, wherein said data connector assembly comprises:
- an electrical connector for mating with said connector on said electronics card assembly, said electrical connector being located within said second portion of said data connector assembly; and
- a unitary bracket for securing said electrical connector, said unitary bracket being assembled to said electrical connector by positioning said electrical connector relative to said unitary bracket, and folding a first portion of said unitary bracket over a second portion of said unitary bracket to secure said electrical connector within said unitary bracket.
- 5. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 1, wherein said cover includes a cavity adjacent said aperture, said cavity accommodating said second portion of said data connector assembly.
- 6. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 5, wherein said second portion of said data connector assembly includes a guide rail cooperating with said second positioning structure in said cavity.
- 7. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 1, wherein:
- said spindle assembly is anchored to said base casting at both axial ends of said spindle assembly;
- said aperture is substantially parallel to said disk axis; and
- said cover is assembled to said base casting by motion substantially perpendicular to said disk axis.
- 8. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 7, wherein said cover includes a cavity adjacent said aperture, said cavity accommodating said second portion of said data connector assembly.
- 9. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 8, wherein said second portion of said data connector assembly includes a guide rail cooperating with said second positioning structure in said cavity.
- 10. The magnetic storage disk drive of claim 7, wherein said data connector assembly comprises:
- an electrical connector for mating with said connector on said electronics card assembly, said electrical connector being located within said second portion of said data connector assembly; and
- a unitary bracket for securing said electrical connector, said unitary bracket being assembled to said electrical connector by positioning said electrical connector relative to said unitary bracket, and folding a first portion of said unitary bracket over a second portion of said unitary bracket to secure said electrical connector within said unitary bracket.
