Claims
- 1. A substituted benzene derivative represented by general formula (100), where, R represents a straight chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene group (—CH2—) may be substituted by an oxygen atom; X represents a halogen atom, —CF3, —CF2H, —CFH2, —OCF3 or —OCF2H; each of Z1 and Z2 independently represents —(CH2)2—, —(CH2)4—, —CH2O—, —OCH2— or a covalent bond, but when Z1 represents (CH2)2— or a covalent bond, Z2 cannot be a covalent bond.
- 2. A substituted benzene derivative according to claim 1, wherein Z1=a covalent bond and Z2=—(CH2)2—.
- 3. A substituted benzene derivative according to claim 1, wherein Z1=—(CH2)4—, —CH2O—, or —OCH2— and Z2=a covalent bond.
- 4. A substituted benzene derivative according to claim 1, wherein Z1=a covalent bond, and Z2=—(CH2)4—, —CH2O— or —OCH2—.
- 5. A substituted benzene derivative according to claim 1, wherein Z1=Z2=—(CH2)2—.
- 6. A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound according to any one of claims 1-5.
- 7. A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound according to any one of claims 1-5 as a first component, and at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulas (2), (3) and (4) as a second component, where, R1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atoms or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; X1 represents a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, —OCF3, —OCF2H, —CF3, —CF2H, —CFH2, —OCF2CF2H or —OCF2CFHCF3; each of L1 and L2 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; each of Z4 and Z5 independently represents a 1,2-ethylene group, a 1,4-butylene group, —COO—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —CH═CH— or a covalent bond; ring B represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; ring C represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms.
- 8. A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound according to any one of claims 1-5 as a first component, and at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulas (5) and (6) as a second component, where, each of R2 and R3 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atoms or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; X2 represents a —CN group or —C═C—CN; ring D represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl; ring E represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl; ring F represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; Z6 represents a 1,2-ethylene group, —COO— or a covalent bond; each of L3, L4, and L5 independently represents a hydrogen atoms or a fluorine atom; each of b, c and d independently represents 0 or 1.
- 9. A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound according to any one of claims 1-5 as a first component, at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the above general formulas (2), (3) and (4) as a second component, where, R1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; X1 represents a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, —OCF3, —OCF2H, —CF3, —CF2H, —CFH2, —OCF2CF2H or —OCF2CFHCF3; each of L1 and L2 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; each of Z4 and Z5 independently represents a 1,2-ethylene group, a 1,4-butylene group, —COO—, —CF2O, —OCF2—, —CH═CH— or a covalent bond; ring B represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; ring C represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, or 1,4-phenylene and at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulas where, each of R4 and R5 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; each of ring G, ring I and ring J independently represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, pyrimidine-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; each of Z7 and Z8 independently represents —C═C—, —COO—, —CH2CH2—, —CH═CH— or a covalent bond.
- 10. A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound according to any one of claims 1-5 as a first component, at least one compound selected from a group where, each of R2 and R3 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; X2 represents a —CN group or —C═C—CN; ring D represents trans-1,4-cyclohxylene, 1,4-phenylene, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl; ring E represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl; ring F represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; Z6 represents a 1,2-ethylene group, —COO— or a covalent bond; each of L3, L4, and L5 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; each of b, c and d independently represents 0 or 1, where, each of R4 and R5 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; each of ring G, ring I and ring J independently represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, pyrimidine-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; each of Z7 and Z8 independently represents —C═C—, —COO—, —CH2CH2—, —CH═CH— or a covalent bond.
- 11. A liquid crystal composition containing at least one compound according to any one of claims 1-5 as a first component, at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulas (5) and (6) as a second component, where, R1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; X1 represents a fluorine atom, a chlorine atoms, —OCF3, —OCF2H, —CF3, —CF2H, —CFH2, —OCF2CF2H or —OCF2CFHCF3; each of L1 and L2 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; each of Z4 and Z5 independently represents a 1,2-ethylene group, a 1,4-butylene group, —COO—, CF2O—, —OCF—, —CH═CH or a covalent bond; ring B represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; ring C represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms, at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the above general formulas (5) and (6) as a third component, where, each of R2 and R3 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atoms or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; X2 represents a —CN group or —C≡C—CN; ring D represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, 1,3-dioxane-2,5-diyl or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl; ring E represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms or pyrimidine-2,5-diyl; ring F represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene or 1,4-phenylene; Z6 represents a 1,2-ethylene group, —COO— or a covalent bond; each of L3, L4, and L5 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; each of b, c and d independently represents 0 or 1, and at least one compound selected from a group consisting of compounds represented by the following general formulas (7), (8), and (9) as a fourth component, where, each of R4 and R5 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms in which each of optional and nonadjacent methylene groups may be substituted by an oxygen atom or —CH═CH—, and optional hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; each of ring G, ring I and ring J independently represents trans-1,4-cyclohexylene, pyrimidine-2,5-diyl, or 1,4-phenylene in which hydrogen atoms may be substituted by fluorine atoms; each of Z7 and Z8 independently represents —C═C—, —COO—, —CH2CH2—, —CH═CH— or a covalent bond.
- 12. A liquid crystal composition further containing at least one optically active compound in addition to a liquid crystal composition according to claim 6.
- 13. A liquid crystal element comprising a liquid crystal composition according to claim 6.
