Claims
- 1. A compound of Formula I ##STR58## wherein R is hydrogen;
- R1 is alpha --OCH.sub.3 ;
- Q is hydrogen;
- M is:
- (a) --CH.sub.3,
- (b) CH.sub.2 --OAc,
- (c) chloro, or
- (d) ((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo- 1,2,4-triazin -3-yl)thio)methyl;
- B is OB.sub.1 or NB.sub.2 B.sub.3 wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 independently are:
- (a) straight or branched chain alkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms;
- (b) alkenyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms;
- (c) alkoxy alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms;
- (d) phenyl C.sub.1-6 alkyl or C.sub.1-6 alkyl phenyl;
- (e) C.sub.1-6 alkanoyloxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl;
- the above groups (a)-(e) can be unsubstituted or substituted with one or more radicals selected from a group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl, hydroxy, C.sub.1-6 alkoxy, amino, N--C.sub.1-6 alkyl or N,N-diC.sub.1-6 alkylamino, carboxy;
- B.sub.3 is B.sub.1 or hydrogen; or
- B.sub.2 and B.sub.3 are joined such that together with the nitrogen to which they and attached there is formed a ring of 5 to 7 atoms having one nitrogen atom and optionally one oxygen atom, said ring being optionally substituted with a carboxyl.
- 2. A compound of Formula I ##STR59## wherein R is hydrogen;
- R1 is alpha --OCH.sub.3 ;
- Q is hydrogen;
- M is:
- (a) --CH.sub.3,
- (b) CH.sub.2 --OAc,
- (c) chloro, or
- (d) ((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl;
- B is OB.sub.1 or NB.sub.2 B.sub.3 wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 independently are:
- (a) straight or branched chain alkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms;
- (b) alkenyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms;
- (c) alkoxy alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms;
- (d) phenyl C.sub.1-6 alkyl or C.sub.1-6 alkyl phenyl;
- (e) C.sub.1-6 alkanoyloxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl;
- the above groups (a)-(e) can be unsubstituted or substituted with one or more radicals selected from a group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl, hydroxy, C.sub.1-6 alkoxy, amino, N--C.sub.1-6 alkyl or N,N-diC.sub.1-6 alkylamino, carboxy;
- B.sub.3 is B.sub.1 or hydrogen; or
- B.sub.2 and B.sub.3 are joined such that together with the nitrogen to which they and attached there is formed a ring of 5 to 7 atoms having one nitrogen atom and optionally one oxygen atom, said ring being optionally substituted with a carboxyl.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1 ##STR60## wherein R is hydrogen;
- R1 is alpha --OCH.sub.3 ;
- Q is hydrogen;
- M is:
- (a) --CH.sub.3,
- (b) CH.sub.2 --OAc,
- (c) chloro, or
- (d) ((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl;
- B is OB.sub.1 or NB.sub.2 B.sub.3 wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 are each independently:
- (1) straight or branched chain C.sub.1-6 alkyl,
- (2) phenyl C.sub.1-6 alkyl, or C.sub.1-6 alkyl phenyl,
- (3) C.sub.1-6 alkanoyloxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl, or
- (4) carboxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl;
- the above groups (1), (2) and (3) being unsubstituted or substituted with a radical selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl, hydroxy, and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy;
- B.sub.3 is B .sub.1 or hydrogen, or
- B.sub.2 and B.sub.3 are joined such that together with the nitrogens to which they are attached there is formed a ring of 5 to 7 atoms having one nitrogen atom and optionally one oxygen atom, said ring being optionally substituted with a carboxyl.
- 4. A compound of Formula I ##STR61## wherein R is hydrogen;
- R1 is alpha --OCH.sub.3 ;
- Q is hydrogen;
- M is:
- (a) --CH.sub.3,
- (b) CH.sub.2 --OAc,
- (c) chloro, or
- (d) ((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl;
- B is OB.sub.1 or NB.sub.2 B.sub.3 wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 are each independently;
- (1) straight or branched chain C.sub.1-6 alkyl,
- (2) phenyl C.sub.1-6 alkyl, or C.sub.1-6 alkyl phenyl,
- (3) C.sub.1-6 alkanoyloxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl, or
- (4) carboxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl;
- the above groups (1), (2) and (3) being unsubstituted or substituted with a substituent selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-6 alkyl, hydroxy, carboxy and C.sub.1-6 alkoxy;
- B.sub.3 is B.sub.1 or hydrogen; or
- B.sub.2 and B.sub.3 may join together to form a substituted heterocyclic ring of 5 or 6 atoms, said ring having one nitrogen atom, or one nitrogen atom and one oxygen atom, wherein said substituent is hydrogen or carboxy.
- 5. A compound of Formula I ##STR62## wherein R is hydrogen;
- R 1 is alpha --OCH.sub.3 ;
- Q is hydrogen;
- M is
- (a) --CH.sub.2 --OAc, or
- (b) ((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl; and
- B is NB.sub.2 B.sub.3 wherein
- (a) B2 is methyl and B3 is carboxymethyl, or
- (b) B2 and B3 are joined together to form,
- (1) substituted pyrrolidine, wherein the substituent is carboxy,
- (2) morpholino, or
- (3) piperidino.

- 7. A compound of Formula I which is ##STR74##
- 8. A compound according to claim 1 wherein the compound of Formula I is
- (1) (6R-Cis)-Pyrrolidine, 1-((7-methoxy-8-oxo-3-(((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl)-5-thia-1-azabicyclo (4.2.0)oct-2-en-2-yl) carbonyl)-,5,5-dioxide;
- (2) 1,1-Dimethyl ethyl 3-((acetyloxy)methyl)-7.alpha.-methoxy-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo(4.2.0)oct-2-ene-2-carboxylate 5,5-dioxide;
- (3) (6R-Cis)-L-proline,1-((7-methoxy-8-oxo-3-((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-dioxo-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl)-5-thia-1-azabicyclo(4.2.0)oct-2-en-2-yl)carbonyl)-, 5,5-dioxide;
- (4) (6R-Cis)-L-proline,1-((3-((acetyloxy)methyl)-7-methoxy-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo(4.2.0)oct-2-ene-2-yl)carbonyl)-, S,S-dioxide;

- 9. A pharmaceutical composition for treating elastase mediated diseases comprising:
- a pharmaceutically acceptable salt and a non-toxic effective amount of compound of formula I according to claim 1.
- 10. A pharmaceutical composition for treating elastase mediated diseases comprising:
- a pharmaceutically acceptable salt and a non-toxic effective amount of compound of formula I according to claim 8.
- 11. A method of treating elastase mediated diseases in a patient in need of such treatment comprising:
- administration of a non-toxic effective amount of compound of formula I according to claim 1.
- 12. A method of treating elastase mediated diseases in a patient in need of such treatment comprising:
- administration of a non-toxic effective amount of compound of formula I according to claim 8.
