Claims
- 1. A method for enhancing the reflectivity of a surface-relief diffractive structure comprising depositing a layer of transparent, high refractive index material onto the relief surface of said diffractive structure, said high refractive index material having a substantially higher refractive index than the refractive index of the material of which said diffractive structure is composed such that the interface between said high refractive index material and the material of said diffractive structure reflects light according to the degree of inequality of the high refractive index material and said material of said diffractive structure.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said diffractive structure is composed of a radiation-curable resin.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein said high refractive index material is a dielectric material.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein said dielectric material is a metal oxide.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said metal oxide is tin oxide.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein said high refractive index material is deposited on the relief surface of said diffractive structure by the process of vapor deposition.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein said high refractive index material is coated onto the relief surface of said diffractive structure by the process of vacuum coating.
- 8. The method of claim 1, further including the step of coating said high refractive index material with a layer of transparent material.
