Claims
- 1. A method for on-demand recording of information, the method comprising:
establishing a connection to a communication device with an intermediary device; dynamically storing information transmitted via the connection; and saving all of the information of the connection at the conclusion of the connection if a triggering event occurs during the connection, wherein the saved information can be replayed on-demand.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of storing the information comprises storing the information on a server connected to the intermediary device.
- 3. The method of claim 1 further comprising duplicating the information for transmitting the duplicated information to a server connected to the intermediary device.
- 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising digitizing the information for transmitting the digitized information to a server connected to the intermediary device.
- 5. The method of claim 1 further comprising packetizing the information for transmitting the packetized information to a server connected to the intermediary device by a packet network.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the connection is a television transmission.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the connection is a data connection.
- 8. The method of claim 1 wherein the connection is a telephone call.
- 9. The method of claim 1 further comprising initiating a triggering event from the communication device.
- 10. The method of claim 1 further comprising initiating a triggering event remotely from the communication device.
- 11. The method of claim 1 wherein the triggering event is initiated from the network device.
- 12. The method of claim 1 wherein the triggering event is initiated from a server connected to the intermediary device.
- 13. A method for on-demand recording of voice information, the method comprising:
establishing a telephone call to a telephone with a private branch exchange (PBX) including a plurality of line cards; dynamically duplicating the voice information of the telephone call at one of the plurality of line cards; digitizing and packetizing the digitized voice information for transmission on a network; transmitting the packetized voice information to a server connected to the PBX; receiving a triggering event during the telephone call; determining a conclusion of the telephone call; and upon receipt of the triggering event and conclusion of the telephone call, saving the voice information of the entire telephone call on the server so that the saved voice information can be replayed on-demand.
- 14. A system for on-demand recording of information, comprising:
an intermediary device for establishing a connection for transfer of information to a communication device connected to the intermediary device; a save initiator for initiating a save request during the connection; and a receiver for receiving the save request, wherein, upon receipt of the save request, a server connected to the intermediary device will save all of the information of the connection at the conclusion of the connection.
- 15. The system of claim 14 wherein the intermediary device is a private branch exchange (PBX) including a plurality of line cards.
- 16. The system of claim 14 wherein the intermediary device includes a data port for transmitting the information to the server.
- 17. The system of claim 14 wherein the intermediary device includes a processor for duplicating the information.
- 18. The system of claim 14 wherein the intermediary device includes a processor for packetizing the information.
- 19. The system of claim 14 wherein the intermediary device is either a network device or a video signal device.
- 20. The system of claim 14 wherein the communication device is one of either a telephone, a computer, or a display device.
- 21. A system for on-demand recording of information comprising:
a telecommunications terminal including a plurality of line cards for establishing a telephone call on a telephone connected to the telecommunications terminal; a processing system for dynamically duplicating the voice information of the telephone call, digitizing the voice information, and packetizing the voice information for transmission on a packet network; a data port for transmitting the packetized voice information to a server connected to the telecommunications terminal; a save initiator for initiating a save request during the telephone call; and a receiver for receiving the save request, wherein, upon receipt of the save request, the server will save all of the voice information of the telephone call at the conclusion of the telephone call.
