Claims
- 1. A system for providing geographically relevant information; comprising:a plurality of websites, each website identified by a region identifier associated with a geographic region, wherein the region identifier is embedded into data of the plurality of websites; and a mobile communications system determining a user's location and associated region identifier, and linking information associated with a user's location associated with the region identifier, the linked information is provided to the user and dynamically updated to correspond to the mobile communications system's current location.
- 2. The mobile communications system of claim 1 employing a global positioning system (GPS) system for identifying the user's location.
- 3. The system of claim 1 wherein the plurality of websites is associated with M number of websites.
- 4. The system of claim 1 wherein the region identifier is associated with N number of regions.
- 5. The system of claim 1 wherein the region identifier is embedded via XML.
- 6. The system of claim 1 wherein a query is directed to the mobile communications unit and information related to a geographic region is provided.
- 7. The system of claim 6 wherein the query is directed to a shaped region.
- 8. The system of claim 6 wherein the query is related to a geographical direction.
- 9. A system for providing data received from a global communications network to a mobile data receiver, the mobile data receiver including a global positioning system capable of transmitting a position signal and a data receiver identifier, the system comprising:a first region identifier associated with a location of the global positioning system; a mass storage medium for storing at least one user profile corresponding to the data receiver identifier; and a server coupled to the mass storage medium; wherein the server directs and dynamically updates data to the mobile data receiver corresponding to the position signal, the first region identifier, the at least one user profile, at least one predetermined code, and a second region identifier wherein the second region identifier is embedded within a plurality of websites on the global communications network.
- 10. The system of claim 9 wherein the global positioning system is a personal communications system (PCS).
- 11. A system for providing data received from a global communications network to a mobile data receiver, the data receiver including a global positioning system capable of transmitting a position signal, a data receiver identifier, a data query and a user ID, the system comprising:a first t region identifier associated with a location of the global positioning system; a mass storage medium for storing at least one user profile and a corresponding user ID; and a server coupled to the mass storage medium; wherein the server directs and dynamically updates data received from the global communications network to a mobile data receiver based on the position signal, the first region identifier, the user profile, the corresponding user ID, a predetermined code, and a second region identifier, wherein the second region identifier is embedded within a plurality of websites on the global communications network.
- 12. A system for searching web based information to be provided to a mobile data receiver comprising:amass storage medium for identifying a plurality of web pages containing data; a predefined high resolution geographic position system, the mass storage medium containing high resolution geographic position information based on the predefined high resolution geographic position system, wherein teach of the plurality of web pages contains an embedded region identifier associated with the high resolution geographic position information; and a component that utilizes the high resolution geographic position information to generate a corresponding region identifier and provide a user with web based information from the web pages that is dynamically updated when the location of the component changes.
- 13. A data information server system for use in conjunction with, and providing data to, a mobile data receiver, the system comprising:a global communications network; a server coupled to the global communications network; a mass storage medium coupled to the server, the mass storage medium including a client profile database including a plurality of client profiles generated from user activity and/or demographics, a geographic position filter for relating and dynamically updating information according to a position of the mobile data receiver, the geographic position filter adapted to relate each of a plurality of web sites having embedded region identifiers with another region identifier associated with the position of the mobile data receiver; and a wireless transceiver coupled to the server, the server searches for data over the global communications network in accordance with the plurality of client profiles and the position of the mobile data receiver.
- 14. A method for providing data to a mobile data receiver comprising:determining a position of the mobile data receiver within a geographic region; automatically inserting a unique region identifier associated with the position of the mobile data receiver; forming a data search based at least in part on an automatically generated user profile that is base on query history; identifying a set of data responsive to the data search; identifying and dynamically updating a subset of the set of data based upon the unique region identifier and at least one other region identifier embedded within the data of a plurality of websites; and transmitting the subset of data to the mobile data receiver.
- 15. A method for providing data to a mobile data receiver comprising:automatically defining a data profile for a user of the mobile data receiver based on the user's prior query history; determining the position of the mobile data receiver; automatically inserting a unique region identifier associated with the position of the mobile data receiver; forming a query based upon the data profile; utilizing a search engine to compile a set of data responsive to the query; forming and dynamically updating a subset of the set of data based on the unique region identifier and at least one other region identifier embedded within the data of a plurality of websites; and transmitting the subset of data to the mobile data receiver.
- 16. The method as set forth in claim 15 further comprising: monitoring the data reviewed by the user; and defining the data profile based upon the data previously reviewed by the user.
