Claims
- 1. A tape printing device having a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, said printing device comprising:
- feeding means for feeding said tape accommodated in said tape cartridge attached to said holder unit;
- a printing head for printing on said tape being fed out of said cartridge;
- an openable cover for covering said tape cartridge attached to said holder unit, said cover coming into contact with said tape cartridge to secure said tape cartridge in place when said cover is closed;
- detection means for detecting opening and closing of said cover; and
- control means for varying printing operation on said tape according to opening and closing detected by said detection means.
- 2. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said control means further comprises printing stop means for interrupting printing being executed by said printing head when opening of said cover is detected by said detection means.
- 3. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said control means further comprises feeding halt means for halting feeding of said tape by said feeding means when opening of said cover is detected by said detection means.
- 4. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 1 further comprising:
- a display device; and
- a display control means for displaying a message indicating opening of said cover on said display device when opening of said cover is detected by said detection means.
- 5. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said control means stops power supply to said printing head when said detection means detects said opening of said cover.
- 6. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said cover further comprises a window which is transparent and disposed in a position covering said holder unit.
- 7. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 1, wherein said holder unit immovably retains said tape cartridge in place when said cover is closed, said tape printing device further comprising means for moving said printing head to a printing position for printing on said tape accommodated in said tape cartridge when said cover is closed.
- 8. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 7, said tape printing device further comprising means for displacing said printing head from said printing position and stopping power supply to said printing head when said cover is open.
- 9. A tape printing device with a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, said tape printing device comprising:
- a platen for feeding said tape in a direction through rotation thereof, said platen being rotated by a motor;
- a printing head for printing on said tape being fed out of said cartridge while holding said tape in cooperation with said platen;
- a printing control circuit for controlling electric power supplied to said printing head for printing;
- an openable cover for covering said tape cartridge attached to said holder unit, said cover coming into contact with said tape cartridge to secure said tape cartridge in place when said cover is closed;
- a switch having an operating member arranged to change the state of the switch, said switch being disposed in a predetermined position such that the operating member is operated according to opening and closing of said cover; and
- a device control circuit to which said switch is connected, said device control circuit detecting said state of said switch changed over through operation of said operating member and controlling said printing control circuit to stop printing by said printing head when said opening of said cover is detected through said state of said switch.
- 10. A tape printing device with a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, said tape printing device comprising:
- a platen for feeding said tape in a direction through rotation thereof, said platen being rotated by a motor;
- a motor driving circuit for driving said motor;
- a printing head for printing on said tape being fed out of said cartridge while holding said tape in cooperation with said platen, said printing head;
- a printing control circuit for controlling electric power supplied to said printing head for printing;
- an openable cover for covering said tape cartridge attached to said holder unit, said cover coming into contact with said tape cartridge to secure said tape cartridge in place when said cover is closed;
- a switch having an operating member arranged to change the state of the switch, said switch being disposed in a predetermined position such that the operating member is operated according to opening and closing of said cover; and
- a device control circuit to which said switch is connected, said device control circuit detecting said state of said switch changed over through operation of said operating member and controlling said motor driving circuit to halt rotating said platen when said opening of said cover is detected through said state of said switch.
- 11. A tape printing device in accordance with claim 10, wherein said device control circuit stops power supply to said printing control circuit and said motor driving circuit when said device control circuit detects said opening of said cover through detecting said state of said switch.
