Claims
- 1. In a tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head, a method of obtaining a label printed with specified print data, said method comprising:
- (a) inputting print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) specifying a front margin between a tape front end and a start position of said print data on said tape, said front margin being less than a distance between said print head and a cutting position of said cutting mechanism;
- (c) determining printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) feeding said tape relative to said print head and activating said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) informing a user of a target cut position prior to completion of printing of said print data to maintain said specified front margin.
- 2. A method in accordance with claim 1 wherein step (e) further comprises:
- activating said print head to print a predetermined cut mark on said tape, said predetermined cut mark representing said target cut position for maintaining said specified front margin.
- 3. In a tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head, a method of obtaining a label printed with specified print data, said method comprising:
- (a) inputting print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) specifying a length of a front margin between a tape front end and a starting position of said print data on said tape;
- (c) determining printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) feeding said tape relative to said print head and activating said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) informing a user of a target cut position prior to completion of printing of said print data to maintain said length of said front margin.
- 4. A method in accordance with claim 3 wherein step (e) further comprises:
- activating said print head to print a predetermined cut mark on said tape, said predetermined cut mark representing said target cut position for maintaining said length of said front margin.
- 5. In a tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head, a method of obtaining a label printed with print data, said method comprising:
- (a) inputting print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) specifying a length of a front margin between a tape front end and a starting position of said print data on said tape;
- (c) determining printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) feeding said tape relative to said print head and activating said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) informing a user of a target cut position after completion of printing of current print data and prior to completion of printing of succeeding print data to maintain said length of said front margin for a succeeding label.
- 6. A method in accordance with claim 5 wherein step (e) further comprises:
- activating said print head to print a predetermined cut mark on said tape, said predetermined cut mark representing said target cut position for maintaining said length of said front margin.
- 7. A tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head and arranged for obtaining a label printed with specified print data, said tape printing device comprising:
- (a) means for inputting print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) means for specifying a front margin between a tape front end and a start position of said print data on said tape, said front margin being less than a distance between said print head and a cutting position of said cutting mechanism;
- (c) means for determining printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) means for feeding said tape relative to said print head and for activating said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) means for informing a user of a target cut position, for stopping the feeding of said tape at a certain position and for displaying a message indicating the cutting of said tape.
- 8. A tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head and arranged for obtaining a label printed with specified print data, said tape printing device comprising:
- (a) means for inputting print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) means for specifying a length of a front margin between a tape front end and a starting position of said print data on said tape;
- (c) means for determining printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) means for feeding said tape relative to said print head and for activating said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) means for informing a user of a target cut position, for stopping the feeding of said tape at a certain position and for displaying a message indicating the cutting of said tape.
- 9. A tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head and arranged for obtaining a label printed with print data, said tape printing device comprising:
- (a) means for inputting print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) means for specifying a length of a front margin between a tape front end and a starting position of said print data on said tape;
- (c) means for determining printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) means for feeding said tape relative to said print head and for activating said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) means for informing a user of a target cut position, after completion of printing of current print data and prior to completion of printing of succeeding print data to maintain said length of said fromt margin for a succeeding label.
- 10. A tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head and arranged for obtaining a label printed with specified print data, said tape printing device comprising:
- (a) a key input element by which a user enters print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) margin setting keys by which a user specifies a front margin between a tape front end and a start position of said print data on said tape, said front margin being less than a distance between said print head and a cutting position of said cutting mechanism;
- (c) a printing position determination unit that determines printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) an output unit that feeds said tape relative to said print head and activates said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) a display that informs a user of a target cut position prior to completion of printing of said print data to maintain said specified front margin.
- 11. A tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head and arranged for obtaining a label printed with specified print data, said tape printing device comprising:
- (a) a key input element by which a user enters print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) margin setting keys by which a user specifies a length of a front margin between a tape front end and a starting position of said print data on said tape;
- (c) a printing position determination unit that determines printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) an output unit that feeds said tape relative to said print head and activates said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) a display that informs a user of a target cut position prior to completion of printing of said print data to maintain said length of said front margin.
- 12. A tape printing device to which a tape cartridge for accommodating a tape therein is attached, said tape printing device having a cutting mechanism disposed after a print head and arranged for obtaining a label printed with print data, said tape printing device comprising:
- (a) a key input element by which a user enters print data to be printed on said tape by a print head;
- (b) margin setting keys by which a user specifies a length of a front margin between a tape front end and a starting position of said print data on said tape;
- (c) a printing position determination unit that determines printing positions of said print data along a longitudinal direction of said tape;
- (d) an output unit that feeds said tape relative to said print head and activates said print head to print said data at said printing positions; and
- (e) a display that informs a user of a target cut position after completion of printing of current print data and prior to completion of printing of succeeding print data to maintain said length of said front margin for a succeeding label.
