- 4. A method in accordance with claim 1 wherein said step of varying includes stopping said feeding of said printing tape.
- 5. A method in accordance with claim 1 wherein said tape printing device further having a display that is capable of displaying data, and wherein
- said step of varying includes displaying an alarm which draws attention of a user to said display.
- 6. A method in accordance with claim 2 wherein said step of varying further includes stopping printing on said printing tape prior to said releasing of said printing tape interposed between said printing head and said platen roller.
- 7. A method in accordance with claim 3 wherein said step of varying further includes opening said circuit for supplying electricity to said printing head prior to said releasing of said printing tape interposed between said printing head and said platen roller.
- 8. A method in accordance with claim 4 wherein said step of varying further includes stopping said feeding of said printing tape prior to said releasing of said printing tape interposed between said printing head and said platen roller.
- 9. A method in accordance with claim 5 wherein said step of varying further includes displaying said alarm on said display prior to said releasing of said printing tape interposed between said printing head and said platen roller.
- 10. In a tape printing device having an openable cover, a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, and a printing head for printing on said printing tape interposed between said printing head and a platen roller, a method for varying printing operation on said printing tape, said method comprising:
- covering said tape cartridge attached to said cartridge holder unit with said openable cover;
- feeding said printing tape while said cover is closed;
- performing a printing operation on said printing tape;
- feeding said printing tape after said printing operation out of said tape cartridge;
- detecting an opening of said cover; and
- halting said printing operation on said printing tape when said opening of said cover is detected.
- 11. In a tape printing device having an openable cover, a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, and a printing head for printing on said printing tape interposed between said printing head and a platen roller, a method for varying printing operation on said printing tape, said method comprising:
- covering said tape cartridge attached to said cartridge holder unit with said openable cover;
- feeding said printing tape while said cover is closed;
- performing a printing operation on said printing tape;
- feeding said printing tape after said printing operation out of said tape cartridge;
- detecting an opening of said cover; and
- stopping said feeding of said printing tape when said opening of said cover is detected.
- 12. In a tape printing device having an openable cover, a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, and a printing head for printing on said printing tape interposed between said printing head and a platen roller, a method for varying printing operation on said printing tape, said method comprising:
- covering said tape cartridge attached to said cartridge holder unit;
- feeding said printing tape while said cover is closed;
- performing a printing operation on said printing tape;
- feeding said printing tape after said printing operation out of said tape cartridge;
- detecting an opening of said cover; and
- outputting a message regarding said cover opening when said opening of said cover is detected.
- 13. A tape printing device with a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, said tape printing device comprising:
- a platen for feeding said tape in a direction through rotation of said platen, said platen being rotated by a motor;
- a printing head for printing on said tape while holding said tape in cooperation with said platen;
- a printing control circuit for controlling electric power supplied to said printing head;
- an openable cover for covering said tape cartridge attached to said holder unit;
- a head transfer mechanism arranged to place said printing head into contact with said tape when said cover is closed, and to separate said printing head from said tape when said cover is open;
- a switch having an operating member arranged to change the state of said switch, said switch being disposed in a predetermined position such that said operating member is operated according to the opening and closing of said cover; and
- a device control circuit to which said switch is connected, said device control circuit arranged to detect the state of said switch and to direct said printing control circuit to stop printing by said printing head when said opening of said cover is detected by the state of said switch.
- 14. A tape printing device with a cartridge holder unit to which a tape cartridge accommodating a printing tape is attached, said tape printing device comprising:
- a platen for feeding said tape in a direction through rotation thereof, said platen being rotated by a motor;
- a motor driving circuit for driving said motor;
- a printing head for printing on said tape while holding said tape in cooperation with said platen;
- a printing control circuit for controlling electric power supplied to said printing head;
- an openable cover for covering said tape cartridge attached to another holder unit;
- a head transfer mechanism arranged to place said printing head into contact with said tape when said cover is closed, and to separate said printing head from said tape when said cover is open;
- a switch having an operating member arranged to change the state of said switch, said switch being disposed in a predetermined position such that said operating member is operated according to the opening and closing of said cover; and
