Claims
- 1. A thermoluminescent material for a thermoluminescent radiation dosimeter, consisting essentially of lithium tetraborate (Li.sub.2 O.2B.sub.2 O.sub.3) as a base material and copper as an activator in the range of 0.002 to 1.0 wt% on said base material, said thermoluminescent material exhibiting a thermoluminescent emission spectrum characterized by a main emission peak at 368 m.mu. and being prepared by mixing said base material and activator, firing said mixture at 950.degree. C., rapidly cooling to form a glassy material and then reheating said glassy material to assure complete crystallization.
- 2. The thermoluminescent material according to claim 1, further containing silver as an activator in the range of 0.002 to 0.02 wt% on said base material, so as to improve the sensitivity thereof.
- 3. The thermoluminescent material according to claim 1 wherein the firing is performed at 950.degree. C. for 5 to 100 minutes, the rapid cooling is to room temperature and the reheating is at 650.degree. C. for 1/2 hour.
- 4. The thermoluminescent material according to claim 2 wherein the firing is performed at 950.degree. C. for 5 to 100 minutes, the rapid cooling is to room temperature and the reheating is at 650.degree. C. for 1/2 hour.
