Claims
- 1. A telephoto lens system comprising first to fourth single lenses, said first and third single lenses being of negative focal length, said first single lens being a meniscus lens convex to the object side of the system, said third single lens being a biconcave lens, said second and fourth single lenses being of positive focal length, said second single lens being a meniscus lens convex to the object side of the system, said fourth single lens being a biconvex lens, in which the telephoto lens system satisfies the following data:

- where L.sub.1, L.sub.2, L.sub.3, and L.sub.4 represent the first to fourth single lenses, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, . . . R.sub.8 represent the radii of curvature of the respective lens surfaces, d.sub.1, d.sub.2, . . . d.sub.7 represent the axial separations between consecutive refracting surfaces, n.sub.1, n.sub.2, . . . n.sub.4 represent the refractive indexes of each single lens for D-line of sodium, and .nu..sub.1, .nu..sub.2, . . . .nu..sub.4 are the Abbe numbers of the respective single lenses.
- 2. The telephoto lens system of claim 1 further comprising an aperture stop disposed between the second and third single lenses.
- 3. The telephoto lens system of claim 2 in which the aperture stop has an axial separation of 8.49 from the second lens L.sub.2.
- 4. The telephoto lens system of claim 1 further comprising an internal displacement prism, said prism having an entrance face and an exit face, a first reflecting surface for receiving said rays from said entrance face and transmitting them backwardly and inwardly, and a second reflecting surface for receiving rays from said first reflecting surface and transmitting them backwardly through said exit face, said prism having its entrance face immediately adjacent to the telephoto lens system on the side thereof opposite to the object, said prism collecting the image formed by the telephoto lens system and transmitting the image backwardly and inwardly through the prism.
- 5. The telephoto lens system of claim 4 in which the axial displacement between the entrance face of the internal displacement prism and the fourth lens L.sub.4 is 1.0, the displacement between the entrance and exit faces of the internal displacement prism along the path taken by a light ray from the entrance face to the exit face is 51.2, the refractive index of the internal displacement prism is 1.7282, the Abbe number of the internal displacement prism is 28.41, and the entrance and exit faces are flat.
