Claims
- 1. A method of producing a toner comprisingmixing a dispersion of binder resin particles with a dispersion of a coloring agent and a dispersion of a releasing agent; aggregating the binder resin particles to form aggregation particles and fusing the aggregation particles to obtain colored particles; mixing the colored particles with an external additive, wherein the external additive comprises a monodisperse spherical inorganic oxide having a true specific gravity of from about 1.3 to 1.9 and a volume average particle diameter of from about 80 to 300 nm.
- 2. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, wherein the monodisperse spherical inorganic oxide is silica.
- 3. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, wherein the colored particles have a shape coefficient represented by the following equation of about 125 or less: Shape coefficient of colored particles=R2S×π4×100wherein R represents a maximum length of a diameter of the colored particles, and S represents a projected area of the colored particles.
- 4. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, wherein the external additive further comprises an inorganic compound having a volume average particle diameter of 50 nm or less.
- 5. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, wherein a total amount of monodisperse spherical inorganic oxide to be added is from about 0.5 to 5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the colored particles.
- 6. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, wherein the monodisperse spherical inorganic oxide is made by a sol-gel method.
- 7. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, further comprising sieving the toner after mixing the colored particles with the external additive.
- 8. The method of producing a toner according to claim 2, further comprising adding and mixing an inorganic compound having a smaller particle diameter than the monodisperse spherical silica oxide with a shearing force smaller than that applied in the mixing of the colored particles with the external additive.
- 9. The method of producing a toner according to claim 1, wherein the dispersion of the binder resin particles is made by emulsion polymerization.
