Claims
- 1. An articulating limb of a toy figure having a body portion, the articulating limb comprising:a first segment having a proximal end and a distal end, the first segment comprising two shell members and concealed means for securing the shell members together, the proximal end of the first segment being rotationally and pivotally connected to the body portion; a second segment of one-piece construction with a proximal end and a distal end, the second segment having a rotational member at its proximal end; a receiving cavity inside the first segment sized and shaped to correspond to the rotational member, wherein the shell members of the first segment capture the rotational member of the second segment in the receiving cavity when the shell members are secured together; and a third segment with a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the third segment including means integral with the third segment for pivotally connecting the third segment to the distal end of the second segment.
- 2. The toy figure of claim 1 wherein the rotational member of the second segment comprises a disk.
- 3. The toy figure of claim 1 wherein the pivotal connection between the distal end of the second segment and the proximal end of the third segment comprises a bore defined by one of the distal end of the second segment and the proximal end of the third segment and a pin formed in the other of the distal end of the second segment and the proximal end of the third segment to engage the bore.
- 4. The toy figure of claim 1 further comprising a shaft member connecting the proximal end of the first limb segment to the body portion.
- 5. The toy figure of claim 4 wherein the shaft member has a proximal end and a distal end and the two shell members of the first limb segment capture the distal end of the shaft member.
- 6. An articulating limb of a toy figure having a body portion, the articulating limb comprising:a first segment having a proximal end and a distal end, the first segment comprising two shell members and concealed means for securing the shell members together, the proximal end of the first segment being rotationally and pivotally connected to the body portion; a second segment of one-piece construction with a proximal end and a distal end, the second segment having a retention member at its proximal end and the shell members of the first segment capturing the retention member of the second segment when the shells are secured together; a third segment with a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the third segment including means integral with the third segment for pivotally connecting the third segment to the distal end of the second segment; and a fourth segment having a proximal end pivotally connected at its proximal end to the distal end of the third segment.
- 7. The toy figure of claim 6 wherein the distal end of the first segment includes an interior space sized and shaped to capture the retention member of the second segment.
- 8. The toy figure of claim 6 wherein the pivotal connection between the distal end of the third segment and the fourth segment comprises a bore defined by one of the distal end of the third segment and the proximal end of the fourth segment and a pin formed in the other of the distal end of the third segment and the proximal end of the fourth segment to engage the bore.
- 9. The toy figure of claim 6 further comprising a shaft member connecting the proximal end of the first limb segment to the body portion.
- 10. The toy figure of claim 9 wherein the shaft member has a proximal end and a distal end and the two shell members of the first limb segment capture the distal end of the shaft member.
- 11. An articulating limb of a toy figure having a body portion, the articulating limb comprising:a first segment having a proximal end and a distal end, the first segment comprising two shell members and concealed means for securing the shell members together, the proximal end of the first segment being rotationally and pivotally connected to the body portion; a second segment of one-piece construction with a proximal end and a distal end, the second segment having a rotational member at its proximal end; a receiving cavity inside the first segment sized and shaped to correspond to the rotational member, wherein the shell members of the first segment capture the rotational member of the second segment in the receiving cavity when the shell members are secured together; and a third segment with a proximal, end and a distal end, the proximal end of the third segment including means integral with the third segment for pivotally connecting the third segment to the distal end of the second segment, wherein the pivotal connection between the distal end of the second segment and the proximal end of the third segment comprises a bore defined by one of the distal end of the second segment and the proximal end of the third segment and a pin formed in the other of the distal end of the second segment and the proximal end of the third segment to engage the bore.
- 12. An articulating limb of a toy figure having a body portion, the articulating limb comprising:a first segment having a proximal end and a distal end, the first segment comprising two shell members and concealed means for securing the shell members together, the proximal end of the first segment being rotationally and pivotally connected to the body portion; a second segment of one-piece construction with a proximal end and a distal end, the second segment having a retention member at its proximal end and the shell members of the first segment capturing the retention member of the second segment when the shells are secured together; a third segment with a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the third segment including means integral with the third segment for pivotally connecting the third segment to the distal end of the second segment, wherein the pivotal connection between the distal end of the third segment and the second segment comprises a bore defined by one of the distal end of the third segment and the proximal end of the second segment and a pin formed in the other of the distal end of the third segment and the proximal end of the fourth segment to engage the bore; and a fourth segment having a proximal end pivotally connected at its proximal end to the distal end of the third segment.
Parent Case Info
This application is a division of application Ser. No. 09/088,385, filed Jun. 1, 1998, now U.S. Pat. No. 6,089,950. The present invention generally relates to jointed toy figures and more specifically relates to toy figures with an unusually large number of unique articulating parts which give the figures a particularly realistic look and feel.
