Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula (I) ##STR174## in which W represents hydrogen or an amino protective group, or represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl each having up to 6 carbon atoms which are optionally substituted by aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms or represents a group of the formula R.sup.4 --CO--, R.sup.5 R.sup.6 N--CO-- or R.sup.7 --SO.sub.2 --,
- in which
- R.sup.4 represents hydrogen, trifluoromethyl or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 8 carbon atoms or alkyl having up to 18 carbon atoms, each of which is optionally monosubstituted or disubstituted by identical or different substituents from the group consisting of aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms or pyridyl, or represents aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by halogen, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy or by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, represents cycloalkyl having 3 to 7 carbon atoms, or represents quinolyl, quinolyl-N-oxide, indolyl, pyridyl, morpholino or piperazinyl, or represents a radical of the formula ##STR175## in which R.sup.8 represents phenyl or naphthyl,
- R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 independently of one another represent straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 14 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by phenyl or naphthyl, or benzyloxy or aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, which is in turn substituted by alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.11 has the abovementioned meaning of R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 and is identical to or different from this or represents morpholino or pyrrolidinyl bonded via N,
- m represents a number 0, 1 or 2,
- p represents a number 1, 2 or 3,
- Y and Y' independently of one another represent CO-- or SO.sub.2 --,
- t represents a number 0, 1 or 2,
- R.sup.12 and R.sup.13 independently of one another represent hydroxyl or alkoxy having up to 8 carbon atoms,
- s represents a number 1 or 2,
- R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 independently of one another represent hydrogen or aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, which can optionally be substituted by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms or by halogen, or represent cycloalkyl having 3 to 7 carbon atoms, or represent straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 18 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by pyridyl,
- R.sup.7 represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms,
- A, B and D are identical or different and represent a direct bond or represent a radical of the formula ##STR176## in which x represents the number 1 or 2 and
- r represents the number 0 or 1, or
- represent a group of the formula ##STR177## in which z represents the number 0 or 1,
- R.sup.14 represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.15 represents cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms or aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms or hydrogen, or represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, where the alkyl is optionally substituted by cyano, methylthio, hydroxyl, mercapto or guanidyl or by a group of the formula --NR.sup.16 R.sup.17 or R.sup.18 --OC--,
- in which
- R.sup.16 and R.sup.17 independently of one another represent hydrogen, straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms or phenyl, and
- R.sup.18 represents hydroxyl, benzyloxy, alkoxy having up to 6 carbon atoms or the abovementioned group --NR.sup.16 R.sup.17, or the alkyl is optionally substituted by cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms or by aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, which in turn is substituted by hydroxyl, halogen, nitro or alkoxy having up to 8 carbon atoms or by the group --NR.sup.16 R.sup.17,
- in which
- R.sup.16 and R.sup.17 have the abovementioned meaning,
- or the alkyl is optionally substituted by a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocycle or indolyl, in which the appropriate --NH functions are optionally protected by alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms or by an amino protective group,
- R.sup.1 represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl having up to 10 carbon atoms which are optionally substituted by cycloalkyl having 3 to 8 carbon atoms or aryl having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, each of which can in turn be substituted by halogen, nitro, hydroxyl, amino or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- E represents a radical of the formula ##STR178## R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, together with the nitrogen atom and including the ##STR179## form a heterocyclic radical selected from the group consisting of ##STR180## said heterocyclic radical being optionally substituted by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof; with the exception of compounds or salts thereof of formula (I) in which
- W represents a group of the formula R.sup.4 --CO--
- in which
- R.sup.4 represents a radical selected from the group consisting of those of the formula: ##STR181## and, also A, B and D together represent a radical of the formula: ##STR182##
- 2. Compound or salt thereof according to claim 1 in which
- W represents hydrogen, tert-butoxycarbonyl (BOC), 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (Fmoc), benzyloxycarbonyl (Z) or pyridylmethoxycarbonyl, or represents straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl each having up to 4 carbon atoms which are optionally substituted by phenyl, or represents a group of the formula R.sup.4 --CO--, R.sup.5 R.sup.6 N--CO-- or R.sup.7 SO.sub.2 --
- in which
- R.sup.4 denotes hydrogen, trifluoromethyl or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 6 carbon atoms or alkyl having up to 16 carbon atoms, each of which can optionally be monosubstituted or disubstituted by identical or different substituents from the series comprising phenyl, naphthyl and pyridyl, or denotes phenyl or naphthyl, each of which can optionally be substituted by fluorine, chlorine, trifluoromethyl or trifluoromethoxyor by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms, cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, quinolyl, quinolyl-N-oxide, indolyl, pyridyl, morpholino or piperazinyl, or denotes a radical of the formula ##STR183## in which Y' denotes the CO or SO.sub.2 group,
- R.sup.8 denotes phenyl or naphthyl,
- R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 independently of one another denote straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 8 carbon atoms, tolyl, benzyloxy, phenyl or naphthyl,
- R.sup.11 has the abovementioned meaning of R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 and is identical to or different from this or denotes morpholino or pyrrolidinyl bonded via N,
- m denotes a number 1 or 2,
- R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 independently of one another denote hydrogen or phenyl or naphthyl, each of which can optionally be substituted by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, fluorine or chlorine, denote cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl, or denote straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 16 carbon atoms, which is optionally substituted by pyridyl,
- R.sup.7 denotes straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms,
- A, B and D independently of one another
- represent a direct bond or
- represent proline, or
- represent a radical of the formula ##STR184## in which r denotes the number 0 or 1 represent a group of the formula ##STR185## in which z denotes the number 0 or 1,
- R.sup.14 denotes hydrogen, methyl or ethyl,
- R.sup.15 denotes cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or hydrogen, or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms,
- where the alkyl can optionally be substituted by cyano, methylthio, hydroxyl, mercapto, guanidyl, amino, carboxyl or H.sub.2 N--CO--,
- or the alkyl can be substituted by cyclohexyl, naphthyl or phenyl, which can in turn be substituted by fluorine, hydroxyl, nitro or alkoxy having up to 4 carbon atoms,
- or the alkyl is substituted by indolyl, imidazolyl, pyridyl, triazolyl or pyrazolyl, where the appropriate-NH functions are optionally protected by alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms or by an amino protective group,

- 3. Compound or salt thereof according to claim 1 in which
- W represents hydrogen, tert-butoxycarbonyl (BOC), benzyloxycarbonyl (Z) or pyridylmethoxycarbonyl, or represents allyl or benzyl, represents a group of the formula R.sup.4 --CO--, R.sup.5 R.sup.6 N--CO-- or R.sup.7 --SO.sub.2 --,
- in which
- R.sup.4 denotes hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 4 carbon atoms, alkyl having up to 14 carbon atoms, which can optionally be monosubstituted or disubstituted by phenyl, napthyl or pyridyl, or denotes phenyl or naphthyl each of which can optionally be substituted by fluorine, chlorine, trifluoromethyl or trifluoromethoxy or by straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, denotes cyclopropyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, quinolyl, quinolyl-N-oxide, indolyl, pyridyl, morpholino or piperazinyl, or denotes a radical of the formula ##STR187## in which Y' denotes the CO or SO.sub.2 group,

- 4. An antiretroviral composition comprising an effective amount therefor of a compound or salt according to claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 5. A method of treating retroviral infections in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to said patient an antiretrovirally effective amount of a compound or salt according to claim 1.
