Claims
- 1. A fireproof or refractory composite material comprising a substrate coated or impregnated with a composition comprising a water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound, said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound having its structure represented by the formula:
- (AaBb).sub.r CcDd or (AaBbCcDd).sub.s CpDq
- wherein A is Si; B is selected from the group consisting of FH, BH.sub.3 and B.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; C is selected from the group consisting of Na, K and Li; D is selected from the group consisting of H.sub.2 O and OH; and a, b, c, d, p, q, r and s are each representative of the number of moles of their given component,
- wherein the water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound is prepared from a reaction solution controlled within a temperature range of 50.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., wherein said reaction solution has a solid content of 10% or more by weight when its specific gravity is 1.1 or more, and wherein said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound is applied on the substrate in a thickness of 10.mu. or more.
- 2. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to claim 1, wherein said substrate is a plate coated on both surfaces with a composition comprised mainly of said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound, whereby said coated substrate has improved fireproof and refractory properties.
- 3. A fireproof or refractory composite material comprising a surface component of metal foil paper, a back component of paper, wool or blanket of inorganic fiber material, and a water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound coated on said surface component and back component in a thickness of 10.mu. or more, said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound having a specific gravity of 1.1 or more and capable of being formed into a film at ordinary temperature or by heating, said compound being formed by a reaction of a metal, hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, and a hydroxide of an alkali metal, wherein said reaction is performed in water or a solution of said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, wherein said metal is silicon in a solid state and reacts with a concentrated solution of said alkali metal hydroxide, and then said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts takes part in the reaction, wherein the reaction temperature is controlled within a temperature range of 50.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., and wherein said reaction solution has a solid content of 10% or more by weight and a specific gravity of 1.1 or more, whereby said composite material is flexible and heat-resistant.
- 4. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to claim 3, wherein a hafnium-containing compound is added in an amount of from 0.5 to 100% by weight to said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, and wherein the temperature of the reaction is controlled so as to keep the reaction temperature at 50.degree. C. or above without boiling.
- 5. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to claim 3, wherein said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound has its structure represented by the formula
- (AsBb).sub.r CcDd or (AaBbCcDd).sub.s CpDq
- wherein A is Si; B is selected from the group consisting of FH, BH.sub.3 and B.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; C is selected from the group consisting of Na, K and Li; D is selected from the group consisting of H.sub.2 O and OH; and a, b, c, d, p, q, r and s are each representative of the number of moles of their given component.
- 6. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to any one of claims 3 to 5, wherein said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound is obtained by adding an excess amount of at least one metal compound containing silicon to said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound.
- 7. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to any one of claims 3 to 5, wherein said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound is obtained as a sediment having a specific gravity of 1.3 or more by mixing an alcohol containing or not containing a mineral acid comprising a strong acid to said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound.
- 8. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to any one of claims 3 to 5, wherein said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound has an increased viscosity by adding thereto natural or synthetic mineral powder, mineral fibers or layered lattice mineral.
- 9. A fireproof or refractory composite material according to any one of claims 3 to 5, wherein said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound is obtained by adding a hydration-hardening composition consisting of a metallic compound capable of converting into the corresponding hydroxide.
- 10. A fireproof or refractory composite material comprising a flexible material coated with a synthetic resin having an alcoholic radical as a primer coat and a water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound as a finish coat, said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound being applied in a thickness of 10.mu. or more, said water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound having a specific gravity of 1.1 or more and capable of being formed into a film at ordinary temperature or by heating, said compound being formed by a reaction of a metal, hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, and a hydroxide of an alkali metal, wherein said reaction is performed in water or a solution of said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, wherein said metal is silicon in a solid state and reacts with a concentrated solution of said alkali metal hydroxide, and then said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts takes part in the reaction, wherein the reaction temperature is controlled within a temperature range of 50.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., and wherein said reaction solution has a solid content of 10% or more by weight and a specific gravity of 1.1 or more, whereby said composite material is flexible and heat-resistant.
- 11. A fireproof or refractory composite material comprising a surface component of a natural or synthetic sheet treated to be hard-to-burn, a back component of a non-combustible sheet, and a layer of adhesive therebetween for adhering said surface component to said back component, said adhesive consisting mainly of a water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound having a specific gravity of 1.1 or more and capable of being formed into a film at ordinary temperature or by heating, said compound being formed by a reaction of a metal, hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, and a hydroxide of an alkali metal, wherein said reaction is performed in water or a solution of said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, wherein said metal is silicon in a solid state and reacts with a concentrated solution of said alkali metal hydroxide, and then said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts takes part in the reaction, wherein the reaction temperature is controlled within a temperature range of 50.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., and wherein said reaction solution has a solid content of 10% or more by weight and a specific gravity of 1.1 or more, whereby said composite material is thin and flexible.
- 12. A fireproof or refractory composite material comprising a surface component of a flexible noncombustible sheet composite, a back component of a non-combustible material, and a layer of adhesive therebetween for adhering said surface component to said back component, said adhesive consisting mainly of a water-soluble film-forming inorganic compound having a specific gravity of 1.1 or more and capable of being formed into a film at ordinary temperature or by heating, said compound being formed by a reaction of a metal, hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, and a hydroxide of an alkali metal, wherein said reaction is performed in water or a solution of said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts, wherein said metal is silicon in a solid state and reacts with a concentrated solution of said alkali metal hydroxide, and then said hydrofluoric acid or boric acid and their salts or their submineral acid salts takes part in the reaction, wherein the reaction temperature is controlled within a temperature range of 50.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., and wherein said reaction solution has a solid content of 10% or more by weight and a specific gravity of 1.1 or more, whereby said composite material is thin and flexible.
