Claims
- 1. A synthetic, compression molded product comprising:
ultra low density polyethylene binder, and a filler selected from the group consisting of recycled rubber products, ethylene propylene diene monomer, styrene butadiene rubber, and combinations thereof, which have been blended together at a temperature in the range of 280-350 deg. F. to form an homogeneous blend having the consistency of fresh-mixed putty, and extruded at a temperature below 350 deg. F., then molded in a compression mold of the desired configuration at a temperature in the range of 160-350 deg. F.
- 2. The product of claim 1, in which the filler is ethylene propylene diene monomer.
- 3. Spanish and Italian replica tiles compression molded from a mixture comprising:
about 20-50% by weight ethylene propylene diamine monomer scrap from rubber seals and car parts and styrene butadiene rubber; about 10-30% by weight elastomeric binders selected from the group consisting of ethylene vinyl acetate and ultra low density polyethylene; about 20-40% by weight fire retardant; and about 10-30% by weight high density polyethylene.
- 4. The Spanish and Italian replica tiles of claim 3, in which the fire retardant is aluminum tri-hydrate.
- 5. The Spanish and Italian replica tiles of claim 4, including a color concentrate to obtain the desired product coloring.
- 6. A slate replica roofing shingle compression molded from a mixture of:
about 20-40% by weight ethylene propylene diene monomer scrap from rubber seals and car parts and vulcanized styrene butadiene rubber; about 10-30% by weight elastomeric binders comprising a mixture of ethylene vinyl acetate and ultra low density polyethylene; about 20-40% by weight fire retardant; and about 10-30% by weight high density polyethylene; to obtain a flexible slate replica shingle which is waterproof, weather resistant, hail resistant, simple to install, and is substantially impervious.
- 7. The compression molded product of claim 1, in which the ethylene propylene diamine monomer and styrene butadiene are obtained from recycled rubber from shredded vehicle tires.
- 8. The Spanish and Italian replica tiles of claim 3, in which the ethylene propylene diamine monomer and the styrene butadiene rubber are obtained from recycled vehicle tires.
- 9. The product of claim 1, which is a compression molded floor covering material in which the filler comprises about 50% by weight high density polyethylene recycled crumb rubber;
the elastomeric binder comprises about 20% by weight and is a mixture of ethylene vinyl acetate and at least some ultra low density polyethylene; and including about 20% by weight of aluminum-trihydrate fire retardant; and about 10% by weight high density polyethylene.
