Claims
- 1. A wire saw slicing apparatus in which a plurality of parallel, regularly spaced lines of a wire and a workpiece are relatively fed toward each other along a linear feed path to force the wire and the workpiece together while reciprocating the wire in an axial direction to slice the workpiece into wafers, with a slurry supplied to a contact area between the wire and the workpiece, said wire saw slicing apparatus comprising:
- (a) feeding means for feeding one of the workpiece and the wire relative to each other along the linear feed path to force the workpiece and the wire together;
- (b) reciprocating means for reciprocating the wire in the axial direction;
- (c) setting and synchronizing means for setting a first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire, and for setting a second cyclic pattern of a reciprocating speed of the wire, said first cyclic pattern having a plurality of modes which form one cycle of the pattern and said second cyclic pattern having a plurality of modes which form one cycle of the pattern and said setting and synchronizing means for synchronizing said first and second cyclic patterns with each other at least during a time period of one of the modes of the respective cyclic patterns; and
- (d) control means for controlling the operation of said feeding means and said reciprocating means according to said first and second cyclic patterns set by said setting and synchronizing means.
- 2. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means synchronizing said first and second cyclic patterns with each other at least through a time period during which said feed speed and said reciprocating speed continue at the respective constant speeds.
- 3. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means synchronizing said first and second cyclic patterns with each other at least at the time of said stopping of the respective speeds.
- 4. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means synchronizing said first and second cyclic patterns with each other at least at the time of said stopping of the respective speeds and through a time period during which said feed speed and said reciprocating speed continue at the respective constant speeds.
- 5. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means synchronizing said first and second cyclic patterns with each other at least at the time of said stopping of the respective speeds.
- 6. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 5, wherein at least one of said two cycle patterns further has a mode of continuing at a constant speed provided between said accelerating and said decelerating.
- 7. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in said continuing at a constant speed mode and said accelerating mode varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 8. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in said continuing at a constant speed mode and said accelerating mode varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 9. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 4, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in said continuing at a constant speed mode and said accelerating mode varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 10. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 5, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in said continuing at a constant speed mode and said accelerating mode varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 11. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in said continuing at a constant speed mode and said accelerating mode varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 12. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of continuing at a constant speed, accelerating, continuing at the constant speed, decelerating, and continuing at the constant speed, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means correlating said first and second cyclic patterns with each other such that at least a time period during which said feed speed is in said continuing at the constant speed mode on a high speed side and a time period during which said reciprocating speed is in said continuing at the constant speed mode are synchronized with each other.
- 13. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of continuing at a constant speed, accelerating, continuing at the constant speed, decelerating, and continuing at the constant speed, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means correlating said first and second cycle patterns with each other such that at least said continuing at the constant speed mode on a low speed side of said feed speed cycle pattern and said stopping of said reciprocating speed cycle pattern are synchronized with each other.
- 14. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of continuing at a constant speed, accelerating, continuing at the constant speed, decelerating, and continuing at the constant speed, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, continuing at a constant speed, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means correlating said first and second cyclic patterns with each other such that at least said continuing at the constant speed mode on a low speed side of said feed speed cycle pattern and said stopping of said reciprocating speed cycle pattern are synchronized with each other, and a time period during which said feed speed is in said continuing at the constant speed mode on a high speed side and a time period during which said reciprocating speed is in said continuing at the constant speed mode are synchronized with each other.
- 15. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said setting and synchronizing means setting said first cyclic pattern of the feed speed of the workpiece or the wire to recur in a sequence of accelerating, decelerating, accelerating, and said setting and synchronizing means setting said second cyclic pattern of the reciprocating speed of the wire to recur in a sequence of stopping, accelerating, decelerating, and stopping, and said setting and synchronizing means correlating said first and second cyclic patterns with each other such that at least a transitional part of said feed speed cycle pattern between said decelerating and said accelerating and said stopping of said reciprocating speed cycle pattern are synchronized with each other.
- 16. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 15, wherein one of said two cycle patterns further has a mode of continuing at a constant speed provided between said accelerating and said decelerating.
- 17. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in a transitional part of said feed speed cycle pattern between said accelerating and said decelerating varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 18. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 13, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in a transitional part of said feed speed cycle pattern between said accelerating and said decelerating varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 19. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 14, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting, means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in a transitional part of said feed speed cycle pattern between said accelerating and said decelerating varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 20. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 15, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in a transitional part of said feed speed cycle pattern between said accelerating and said decelerating varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
- 21. A wire saw slicing apparatus according to claim 16, wherein each of said two cycle patterns set by said setting means are basically composed of a repetition of a unit pattern, and wherein said feed speed of the workpiece or said wire in a transitional part of said feed speed cycle pattern between said accelerating and said decelerating varies inversely with a contact length between the workpiece and said wire.
