Claims
- 1. A method of offsetting the path of a radiant energy beam to multiple paths with a relatively few glass plates comprising: inserting a first glass plate at a predetermined angle into said radiant energy beam, to offset said beam to a first offset path; removing said first glass plate and inserting a second glass plate at said predetermined angle into said beam to offset said beam to a second offset path, said second glass plate being twice as thick as said first glass plate; and inserting said first glass plate with said second glass plate at said predetermined angle into said beam to offset said beam to a third offset path.
- 2. A method in accordance with claim 1 further comprising:
- continuing said method for N glass plates, with each successive plate being twice as thick as the immediately preceding plate to offset said beam to 2.sup.N -1 offset paths.
- 3. A method of offsetting the path of a radiant energy beam to multiple paths with a single glass plate having at least one step thickness change comprising: interposing by translating at a predetermined angle the thinnest step of said plate into said beam to offset said beam to a first offset path; translating said glass plate at said predetermined angle to bring the next thinnest step of said plate into said beam to offset said beam to a second offset path.
- 4. A method in accordance with claim 3 further comprising:
- said plate having N steps;
- and continuing said method to translate all N steps into said beam to offset said beam to N offset paths.
