Claims
- 1. A compound of formula ##STR37## wherein R.sub.50 is hydrogen, chloro, CONG.sub.5 R.sub.17, or SO.sub.2 NG.sub.5 R.sub.17 ; R.sub.14 are each independently of the other hydrogen, chloro, CONHR.sub.17, or SO.sub.2 NHR.sub.17 ; R.sub.15 and R.sub.16 are hydrogen, chloro, or methyl; and R.sub.17 is phenyl or oxybisphenyl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by 1 to 3 substituents selected from the group consisting of chloro, trifluoromethyl, methoxy, and methyl; G.sub.1 to G.sub.5 are each independently of one another hydrogen or a CO.sub.2 B group, at least one G.sub.1 to G.sub.5 not being hydrogen; B is a group of formula ##STR38## wherein R.sub.35, R.sub.37 and R.sub.36 are each independently of one another C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl; R.sub.38 and R.sub.39 are each independently of the other C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl which is interrupted by O, S, or N(R.sub.46).sub.2, phenyl or biphenyl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, halogen, cyano, or nitro;
- R.sub.42, R.sub.40, and R.sub.41 are each independently of one another hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl;
- R.sub.43 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or a group of formula ##STR39## R.sub.44 and R.sub.45 are each independently of the other hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, halogen, cyano, nitro, N(R.sub.46).sub.2 or phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, cyano, nitro, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy; R.sub.46 and R.sub.47 are C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl; R.sub.4 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl; and R.sub.49 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl-substituted phenyl; E is p,q-C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene which is unsubstituted or mono- or polysubstituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylthio or by C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 dialkylamino, wherein p and q are different position numbers; X is a hetero atom selected from the group consisting of N, O and S; and, when X is O or S, m is zero and, when X is N, m is 1; and L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 are each independently of the other C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or [--(p',q'-C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene)--Z--].sub.n -C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, each of which is unsubstituted or mono- or polysubstituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylthio, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 dialkylamino, C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryloxy, C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 arylthio, C.sub.7 -C.sub.18 arylalkylamino or by C.sub.12 -C.sub.24 diarylamino, wherein n is a number from 1-1000, p' and q' are different position numbers, each Z is independently of the others a hetero atom O, S, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted N, and C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene in the repeating units [--C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene--Z--] may be identical or different, and L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 may be saturated or from mono- to deca-unsaturated, uninterrupted or interrupted at any position(s) by from 1 to 10 groups selected from the group consisting of --(C.dbd.O)-- and --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --, and may have no substituents or from 1 to 10 further substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano and nitro.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 of formula ##STR40## wherein G.sub.6 to G.sub.11 are each independently of one another hydrogen or a CO.sub.2 B group, at least one of G.sub.6 to G.sub.11 not being hydrogen,
- R.sub.28 and R.sub.29 are each independently of the other hydrogen, chloro or methyl,
- R.sub.30 and R.sub.31 are each independently of the other hydrogen, chloro, methyl, trifluoromethyl, methoxy, or phenoxy which is unsubstituted or substituted by 1 or 2 substituent selected from the group consisting of chloro, trifluoromethyl, methoxy and methyl, and
- R.sub.32 is hydrogen or chloro.
- 3. A composition comprising a high molecular weight organic material which has in the mass thereof a pigment produced in situ by thermal degradation of a compound of formula (XVII) as defined in claim 2.
- 4. A photostructurable material, which comprises a compound of formula (XVII) as defined in claim 2.
- 5. A thermo-, photo- or chemo-sensitive recording material, an ink for ink jet printing or an ink ribbon for thermal dye diffusion printing comprising a compound of formula (XVII) as defined in claim 2.
- 6. A composition comprising a high molecular weight organic material, which has in the mass thereof a pigment produced in situ by thermal degradation of a compound of formula (XVI) according to claim 1.
- 7. A photostructurable material, which comprises a compound of formula (XVI) according to claim 1.
- 8. A thermo-, photo- or chemo-sensitive recording material, an ink for ink jet printing or an ink ribbon for thermal dye diffusion printing, comprising a compound of formula (XVI) according to claim 1.
- 9. A compound of formula ##STR41## wherein R.sub.5, and R.sub.52 are each independently of the other hydrogen, halogen, nitro,
- C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, carboxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl or COONG.sub.16 RS.sub.4,
- R.sub.53 is a direct bond, oxygen, sulfur, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylene or O--C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene--O,
- R.sub.54 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, nitro,
- C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, carboxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl or COONG.sub.17 G.sub.18, and

- L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 are each independently of the other C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or [--(p',q'-C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene)--Z--].sub.n -C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, each of which is unsubstituted or mono- or polysubstituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylthio, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 dialkylamino, C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryloxy, C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 arylthio, C.sub.7 -C.sub.18 arylalkylamino or by C.sub.12 -C.sub.24 diarylamino, wherein n is a number from 1-1000, p' and q' are different position numbers, each Z is independently of the others a hetero atom O, S, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted N, and C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene in the repeating units [--C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene--Z--] may be identical or different, and L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 may be saturated or from mono- to deca-unsaturated, uninterrupted or interrupted at any position(s) by from 1 to 10 groups selected from the group consisting of --(C.dbd.O)-- and --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --, and may have no substituents or from 1 to 10 further substituents selected from the group consisting of halogen, cyano and nitro;
- at least one of G.sub.1 to G.sub.5 not being hydrogen, with the proviso that when in formula (XVIIIa) R.sub.51 is H, R.sub.52 is o-CF.sub.3, and G.sub.14 and G.sub.15 are COOC(CH.sub.3).sub.2 CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2).sub.2 OCH.sub.3, G.sub.12 and G.sub.13 are not both hydrogen or both COOC(CH.sub.3).sub.2 CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2).sub.2 OCH.sub.3.
- 10. A composition comprising a high molecular weight organic material, which has in the mass thereof a pigment produced in situ by thermal degradation of a compound of formula (XVIIIa) or (XVIIIb) according to claim 9.
- 11. A photostructurable material, which comprises a compound of formula (XVIIIa) or (XVIIIb) according to claim 9.
- 12. A thermo-, photo- or chemo-sensitive recording material, an ink for ink jet printing or an ink ribbon for thermal dye diffusion printing, comprising a compound of formula (XVIIIa) or (XVIIIb) according to claim 9.
