Claims
- 1. A substantially purified nucleic acid having a nucleotide sequence that encodes a cortistatin polypeptide having a sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 23 and 24.
- 2. The nucleic acid of claim 1 wherein said nucleotide sequence is SEQ ID NO 1.
- 3. The nucleic acid of claim 1 wherein said nucleotide sequence is SEQ ID NO 4.
- 4. An expression vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 1 wherein said nucleic acid is operatively linked to a promoter in the expression vector.
- 5. A vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 1 wherein said vector is adapted for mammalian expression of said encoded cortistatin polypeptide.
- 6. An isolated mammalian cell comprising the vector of claim 5.
