Claims
- 1. A multilayer ceramic circuit board having a dielectric constant of less than about 4.2.said ceramic circuit board formed of a plurality of laminated ceramic circuit board units, at least one said unit including a ceramic insulating layer, a patterned electrical conductor layer supported on said ceramic insulating layer and electrical conductors for connecting said patterned electrical conductor layers of said respective ceramic circuit board units to form a predetermined wiring circuit, said electrical conductor layers and said electrical conductors selected from the group of gold, copper, silver and palladium, said ceramic insulating layer formed from a mixture consisting essentially of:
- a sintered mixture of 25-50 weight percent borosilicate glass and 50-75 weight percent high silica glass.
- 2. The multilayer ceramic circuit board of claim 1, in which said borosilicate glass comprises:
- 19-30 wt. % B.sub.2 0.sub.3 ;
- 60-80 wt. % SiO.sub.2 ;
- 0.1-4 wt. % CaO;
- 0.1-4 wt. % Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; and
- 0.1-4 wt. % selected from the group of K.sub.2 O, Li.sub.2 O, Na.sub.2 O and mixture thereof.
- 3. The multilayer ceramic circuit board of claim 2, in which said borosilicate glass comprises:
- 19-30 wt. % B.sub.2 O.sub.3 ;
- 60-80 wt. % SiO.sub.2 ;
- 0.1-4 wt. % CaO;
- 0.1-4 wt. % Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; and
- 0.1-4 wt. % selected from the group of K.sub.2 O, Li.sub.2 O, Na.sub.2 O and mixture thereof.
- 4. An electronic package having a dielectric constant less than about 4.2.said electronic package formed from a plurality of laminated ceramic sheets, a patterned electrical conductor layer supported on at least two of said ceramic sheets and electrical conductors which pass through at least one said ceramic sheet and connect said patterned electrical conductor layers, said electrical conductors selected from the group of gold, copper, silver and palladium, said ceramic sheets comprising a sintered product formed from a mixture consisting essentially of:
- (a) 20-50 wt. % borosilicate glass; and
- (b) 25-75 wt. % glass containing 95-98 wt. % silica, having the composition:
- 0-1 wt. % alumina,
- 3-5 wt. % B.sub.2 O.sub.3, and
- 95-98 wt. % SiO.sub.2.
- 5. The electronic package of claim 4 in which the borosilicate glass comprises:
- 19-30 wt. % B.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; and
- 60-80 wt. % SiO.sub.2.
- 6. A multilayer electronic package having a dielectric constant less than about 4.2.said multilayer electronic package formed from a plurality of laminated ceramic sheets, said ceramic sheets comprising a product formed from a mixture consisting essentially of:
- (a) 20-50 wt. % borosilicate glass; and
- (b) 25-75 wt. % high silica glass.
- 7. The multilayer electronic package of claim 6 in which the borosilicate glass comprises:
- 19-30 wt. % B.sub.2 O.sub.3, and
- 60-80 wt. % SiO.sub.2.
- 8. The multilayer electronic package of claim 6 in which said high silica glass comprises:
- 0.5-1 wt. % alumina,
- 1-5 wt. % B.sub.2 0.sub.3, and
- 95-98 wt. % SiO.sub.2.
- 9. The multilayer electronic package of claim 6 in which said patterned electrical conductors are selected from the group consisting of gold, silver, copper, palladium and alloys thereof.
- 10. The electronic package of claim 6 in which said sintered mixture is sintered at a temperature greater than about 850.degree. C. and less than about 1,000.degree. C.
- 11. The electronic package of claim 6 in which said sintered mixture has a dielectric constant of less than about 4.2 and a thermal expansion coefficient less than about 4.0 ppm/.degree.C.
- 12. The electronic package of claim 1 in which said sintered mixture is sintered at a temperature greater than about 850.degree. C. and less than about 1,000.degree. C.
- 13. The electronic package of claim 1 in which said sintered mixture has a dielectric constant of less than about 4.2 and a thermal expansion coefficient less than about 4.0 ppm/.degree.C.
- 14. The electronic package of claim 4 in which said sintered mixture is sintered at a temperature greater than about 850.degree. C. and less than about 1,000.degree. C.
- 15. The electronic package of claim 4 in which said sintered mixture has a dielectric constant of less than about 4.0 and a thermal expansion coefficient less than about 4.0 ppm/.degree.C.
- 16. The electronic package of claim 6 in which said sintered mixture has a dielectric constant of 0.1 to about 4.2 and a thermal expansion coefficient of 0.1 to about 4.0 ppm/.degree.C.
- 17. The electronic package of claim 1 in which said sintered mixture has a dielectric constant of 0.1 to about 4.2 and a thermal expansion coefficient of 0.1 to about 4.0 ppm/.degree.C.
- 18. The electronic package of claim 4 in which said sintered mixture has a dielectric constant of 0.1 to about 4.0 and a thermal expansion coefficient of 0.1 to about 4.0 ppm/.degree.C.
