- 3. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein said caller identity data is determined via automatic number identification and automatic number identification data is compared with caller requested telephone number input data.
- 4. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising the steps of comparing the caller identity data against a positive database and allowing a call to proceed if there is a match.
- 5. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising the step of, applying caller limit criteria to limit the duration or number of calls by the caller prior to allowing the call to proceed.
- 6. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising the step of comparing the caller identity data against a negative database and blocking a call if there is a match.
- 7. A method as recited in claim 3 further comprising the steps of checking said automatic number identification data against a negative database of directory numbers and blocking a call if there is a match.
- 8. A method as recited in claim 3 wherein said caller requested telephone data is in a caller's voice and further comprising the step of:
- receiving said caller requested telephone number input data into speech recognition circuitry.
- 9. A method as recited in claim 3 further comprising the step of:
- receiving said caller requested telephone number input data into tone recognition circuitry.
- 10. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising the steps of checking said requested telephone number against a negative database comprising the identity of unauthorized telephone directory numbers and blocking a call if there is a match.
- 11. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising the steps of:
- receiving caller requested credit card number data;
- retrieving identification data from memory responsive to said requested credit card number data; and
- comparing said identification data with caller requested identification data.
- 12. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said retrieved identification data comprises address data.
- 13. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein said retrieved identification data comprises name data.
- 14. A method as recited in claim 13 further comprising the step of crosschecking said name data against positive and negative databases.
- 15. A method as recited in claim 11 further comprising the steps of checking said requested telephone number against a negative database comprising the identity of unauthorized telephone directory numbers and blocking a call if there is a match.
- 16. A method as recited in claim 12 wherein said address data comprises digital data representing at least a portion of one of a zip code, a street address and an apartment number.
- 17. A method as recited in claim 11 further comprising the steps of retrieving caller identity data for said received telephone number input data, retrieving an associated voiceprint for said caller identity data, comparing said caller requested telephone number data in the caller's voice against said retrieved voiceprint data and blocking the call if said voiceprint data does not match said caller requested telephone number data in the caller's voice.
- 18. A method as recited in claim 11 further comprising the step of blocking a call if said retrieved identification data does not match said caller requested identification data.
- 19. A method as recited in claim 11 further comprising the steps of comparing the caller identity data against a positive database and allowing a call to proceed if there is a match.
- 20. A method as recited in claim 11 wherein, prior to allowing the call to proceed, caller limit criteria is applied to limit the duration or number of calls by the caller.
- 21. A method for limiting a call to a service line providing an information service wherein billing relates to duration of said information service call comprising the steps of:
- establishing call duration criteria for a call;
- determining the identity of a caller;
- retrieving call history data from memory for said identified caller;
- comparing the call history data with the call duration criteria; and
- limiting a call of said identified caller responsive to said comparison.
- 22. The method for limiting a call as recited in claim 21 wherein said call duration criteria comprises parametric data for a number of call minutes per unit of time greater than or equal to one hour.
- 23. The method for limiting a call as recited in claim 21 wherein said call duration criteria comprises parametric data for a number of calls per unit of time greater than or equal to one hour.
- 24. The method for limiting a call as recited in claim 21 wherein said caller identity determination step comprises automatic number identification and identity retrieval from automatic number identification data.
- 25. The method for limiting a call as recited in claim 21 wherein said caller identity determination step comprises receiving credit card number data and identity retrieval from said credit card number data.
