Claims
- 1. A method of forming an electrically conductive sheet material comprising the steps of:
- A. providing a carrier web having a plurality of recesses in a first face;
- B. coating electrically conductive ferromagnetic particles into said recesses;
- C. providing a binder layer over said first face;
- D. applying a magnetic field sufficient to align the ferromagnetic particles into continuous magnetic columns, said magnetic columns extending from a recess in said carrier web.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said binder layer is an adhesive.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said binder layer is an elastomer.
- 4. The method of claim 1 further including the step of providing a second carrier web having a plurality of recesses in a second face over said binder layer prior to aligning said magnetic particles, wherein said magnetic columns are aligned between protrusions in said first face and protrusions in said second face.
- 5. A method of forming an electrically conductive sheet material comprising the steps of:
- A. providing a first carrier web having a first set of parallel grooves formed therein;
- B. coating a dispersion of binder and electrically conductive ferromagnetic particles into said grooves;
- C. providing a second carrier web having a second set of parallel grooves formed therein, and positioning the second set of grooves in said second carrier web in an intersecting arrangement relative to said first set of grooves;
- D. applying a magnetic field sufficient to align the ferromagnetic particles into magnetic columns, each column formed at a grid point of said first and second set of grooves.
- 6. The method of claim 5 further including coating a dispersion of binder and ferromagnetic particles into said second set of grooves.
- 7. The method of claim 5 further including the step of providing a second binder layer between said first and second sets of grooves.
- 8. The method of claim 5 wherein said binder is cured to form an adhesive layer.
- 9. The method of claim 5 wherein said binder is cured to form an elastomeric layer.
- 10. A method of forming an electrically conductive sheet material comprising the steps of:
- A. providing a first carrier web having a first set of continuous recesses formed therein;
- B. providing a dispersion of electrically conductive ferromagnetic particles in a binder over said recesses;
- C. providing a second flexible carrier web having a second set of continuous recesses formed therein, and positioning said second carrier web over said dispersion of ferromagnetic particles;
- D. applying a magnetic field sufficient to align the magnetic particles into magnetic columns, each column extending from a recess in said first face to a recess in said second face.
